Her moon
 Jun 2014 ---
Hedonismos
Two moons in our fables and one on her shoulder
Zero gravitation when my eyes behold her
Painstakingly nurtured to escape from within
The face of the moon was drawn on her skin

The real one is white and glimmers with pride
Her moon drawn green will now and then hide
But after I laid eyes on her cratered skin
The whole of her moon had changed me within

My poem is my true selfie,
An X-ray of the inner me,
A snap-shot of reality,
A close-up of what's really me,
Un-shopped pixels of beauty.
Me.

Cacti

"While its true that these plants are tough, and can usually survive under such circumstances, most certainly will not thrive."
Don't forget there's a difference between
existence
and
*sentience
It's a strange day when you learn you identify with a cactus

The Mermaid

If you were a mermaid                                   c. 6.8.14 J.Ray
I’d follow you down
I wouldn’t be afraid
If I had to drown

Into the dark sea
We swim all alone
Though we cannot see
Into the depths unknown

Through the waves
And through the sand
To Pirate’s graves
Let me hold your hand

Sharks around us got big teeth
Hold you close and calm the fear
The dangers in the underneath
But the water is just oh so clear

Your hair catches the suns final ray
I hate to go now but I’ll be with you soon
In my true heart I wish I could stay
I kiss you goodbye with light of the moon
I really hope you enjoy this, critique is always appreciated!

Tangible

I swear to you, officer,
I tell the truth.
I was the witness
to a most terrible crime.

You see,
there are people out there,
in the world
(you must have seen them before, sir)
who tend to despise themselves
simply for being who they are.

There isn't actually anything wrong with them
not anything you would see on X-ray scans
or a medical sheet
with little x's through boxes
and unreadable scribbles of tangible symptoms.

but their tears are tangible all the same.

The crime, sir,
is the fact that
sadly, no one sees
that figurative demons
can be as real as any disease.

We joke sometimes
about falling in love,
we talk in deep detail
about our romance;
the kind of house we want,
the name of the family dog,
would we rather have boys or girls,
and we argue over who will stay home
to raise the kids, I always let you win.

We joke sometimes
about growing old together;
we talk about thinning hair,
wrinkling skin, tired eyes
and energized grand kids.
We promise to one another
that we will stay in love,
still hold hands, hug each other tightly
and kiss both daily and nightly

We joke sometimes
about a life we could be living
and I just want you to know
that I am not always kidding.
