Oblate spheroidal
Mass of rock
A being that sprang
From the void, with others
A dull speck in the blackness
Of space.

A lone island of azure skies
Verdant plains and mountains
An atmosphere dominated
By nitrogen
A haven of self-organizing
Critters, bacteria
And its oceans: the primal womb.

So precious, yet so fragile
A mote suspended
In a starry backdrop
Rotating its way towards
Its predestined fate.

Such beauty is our home
A lonely traveler
Lost in the wastelands
Of space and time.

hey...
     sorry i'm replying late
well, maybe it isn't too late yet?
but at whatever time you may read this
               i'm just certain
that it is not a good time.
but i'll say it anyway:
       always drink in moderation--
i know you like to act
like you can take it
                                but honestly,
you say the stupidest things drunk.
especially when you're alone.
i just doubt you'll be able
to find a couch like mine
that you can just crash on
                     whenever you were wasted.
not wherever you'll be going anyway..
also,
        i know we like
    joked about this a lot
                    a little too much maybe?
but if ever you think about
trying it,
you know i've been there too
               we both know how much
of a pain this has been
                but please
put out the cigarettes
before you throw them
                  in the trash
and just one stick a week
okay?
         well maybe not that strict...
                 look,
it will be hard to keep living
in an innocent and pure life
well, without me of course--
                      i've been such a good
role model for you after all.
                  but remember your promise:
     never ever get a tattoo
                   not even if its something
awesome
             or maybe a meme
or even if it is in memory of me,
                        you're way cooler than
any ink that would scar your body for life
           also,
                   no matter how rebellious
you think you could be
        don't do drugs.
                never.
                          got that?
     don't think about even sowing
the same seeds i'm now reaping.
i guess i got someone like you?
so maybe it is worth it...
but being left behind makes it
                 maybe even more painful
than is should be.
                              and hey,
lastly...
                i know we made
     all those
                               vows:
i'll never love anyone else...
not the way i did with you.
and i'll always be here for you
and that i'll never ever send you away.
                    but look
      i broke the pact already didn't i?
                                   so please,
fall in love.
                           and if ever
    you get in a fight
                     or any other chance
to prove to this lucky guy
how much you love him...
              do it.
                             and ps.
never let him see you wasting away
          please.
lie if you have to hide
all the bottles of gin
                and febreze all over
the smoke perfume swirling around you
                                  just never
       let him see you break.
                       thank you.
good bye.
this has a moral lesson. don't do drugs.

There's a place between society and the wild
Where aimless bodies are piled
We call it the Wastelands
All creatures die of old age
Or hunger inside this cage
The deer are never hit by cars
For they never travel that far
The Wastelands use fear
That's what keeps them here

The Wastelands are a scary place
It's horrifying how nothing happens
It becomes too much to face
So we hide under satin
To provide comfortable resting
And avoid Wastelands testing

The Wastelands are a barren environment
Solitary coyotes learn from the cacti
Who soak up meager moisture
And become prickly to protect it
Never knowing if nourishment was near
They grew prickly because of their fear

We inhabit the Wastelands
We're trapped here
Where the walls of the city
Seem to mirror
The walls of the wilderness
So it's here we build our nest
But surviving is a constant test
Because we have useless hands
Here in the Wastelands

Wastelands
Interaction
Is reaction
Create a faction
And never leave
Even if love cleaves
It lies behind ramparts of containment
And the fear of society's arraignment
Even if peace calls
It stays behind walls
Of trees hiding predators
That keep us embedded here
So we ***** barriers to protect us
From the barriers surrounding us
We find our connections through hatred
And build teams around it
We made foolish deals with Satan
This is what we're amounted

Scavengers from both worlds encroach the Wastelands
Journalists and artists mine our souls
Vultures mine our flesh like gold
Taking what they need and going home
Our rabid mouths begin to show foam
From the frustration of loss
But inactivity is our cross
While we watch carrion feeders
Carry on eating
Our friends
Until we turn and look away
Knowing that'll be us one day
Because in the Wastelands
Friends are just creatures who are near
There are no animals to hold dear
We're afraid to lend an ear
When Wastelands use fear

The Wastelands are hell
Dry river beds tell of a time
When the rain fell
But now we're plagued by drought
You can tell by looking at the trout
They flop on the ground
Wondering where to wander for water
The cacti remain still
It's the Wastelands will

In the Wastelands we wait to die
Although we really want to fly
We're just afraid of heights
Which impedes our sight
Where we can't view over our own barricades
It's fear that prohibits our ability to elevate
And we see that the order is too tall
Back into the Wastelands we fall

When a newborn comes around,
Or someone is having troubles,
They say:
Welcome to reality

Well, here's a wake-up to reality
Look around: You proud of our Earth?
A decade ago, cowboys used to roam on horseback,
And put up with the heat

Now they wipe the sweat off of their brows,
Aussie blokes say, "Boy, today's a scorcher"
Wanna know why?
Coz we're all blinded by greed and laziness

Too lazy to invest in a car
That doesn't heat up the Earth
Too blinded by pretentious leadership
Where politicians know the facts, but do **** all

Ever seen the pollution cloud above Mexico City?
It's ****** disgusting
What are we doing to our world
We only have one, one chance

One hope to not **** up,
Wipe ourselves out
In our own vile gases
Yet look around

Too corrupt to care,
Too lazy to do anything
Blinded by falsities
As we choke on the fumes
Of mankind's stupidity

Welcome to reality
Welcome to the Wastelands
****** me off how we find the facts out, yet don't use the facts as a base to do anything. Too little, too late
