Like a dove
I land softly on shoulders
I'm kind in nature
generous in discernment

But cross me once
the suspect will be marked
cross me twice
and my friendship
will be no more

It's a waste of breath
for me to show
the extent of violation
worthless
to intend to destroy

I have no need
to action revenge
when a clown
can quite easily stumble
over their own stupidity

I won't lower myself
to the mire
when I can sit by fresh waters
and observe
the downfall
of a dumb mind

I gave you a warm meal
   You called me nice
I gave you a roof for the night
   You called me kind
I gave you a bed and a fleece blanket
   You called me compassionate
I gave you a set of clean clothes
   You called me thoughtful
I gave you money for necessities
   You called me generous

You said thank you
I called you a saint
Those real gifts in life.
Something Simple Sep 2014
You know,
Might as well give before they take
Drown 'em in honey and vice
They'll leave you empty, empty inside

Can't take nothing but love where you're going
And we'll all have to leave
So might as well give what you take

Don't make more empty because of your mistakes
Give more than they take
