Those days in Prashanti
devotees cue up at
Brahmamuhurtam
that time
when dew and God's sacred
presence saturate the dusty
red colored earth
soft chirp of birds just awakening
and the Islamic call to prayer clings
to mogul clouds gliding serenely
over the ashram
our anxious minds pray for the
precious chance to enter the Mandir
cloistered in that sublime sweetness
faces glisten with bliss and the
holy sound of Om orbits the earth
The spider’s eye glittered
from the bottom corner of the desk
She was a huge mamma jamma
hiding behind a silken web

I shrieked and David came running into
the room

I find spiders scary, their hairy black legs
and small monstrous form is enough
to send a series of shudders up
my spine

Nevertheless “Charlotte” plays a vital role
in Nature’s global ecosystem
without Araneae our world would be
overrun with insects devouring
crops and spreading disease

In fact, grandmother spider from
Native American culture created the world
spinning her alchemical web,
embroidered with dew she hurled
the dreamcatcher into the
heavens transmuting it into stars

How cool is that?

David carefully captured the little goddess
releasing her to the night winds and starry
firmament

As we turned to go back inside I caught a glimpse
of a willowy silhouette, grandmother spider
grinning broadly
giving us the thumbs ups
Dream Self
You
have robbed me
of sleep
awake I count
the quickening seconds…
leaping like white buffaloes
touching the clouds

through the partially
drawn chiffon curtains
Your azure face
floats time lapsed
across the
night sky
exquisite arias
from Your kokopelli flute
caress my ears

Krishna divine charioteer
Your sweet chariot
swings low
the breath grows faint
and my pulse is
absent
I am no more.....

dream self
Peace of Christmas
suffuses the
bhajan hall
settling like snowfall
over the manger in Bethlehem

Its no wonder
on my way to kirtan
a white car dashed in front of me
embossed over its rear view window
was the Om glittering forth
reminiscent of snow crystals
softly descending from
the lofty Himalayas

Certainly this was turning out
to be quite a
magical evening
there was a hint of Sai in the atmosphere
although the devotees were sparse
we sang our hearts out
Yuletide hymns and Hare Krishna

Carolers on the door steps of God
Easter hymns
rise sweet and melodious
from our lips
white majestic lilies
sound their fragrant trumpets
kindling childhood memories
of new spring clothes,
shiny black patent leather shoes
lacy pink bonnets and my Mother
holding our hands as we skip
off to Sunday school
tears frozen in time
warm streams run freely
towards her familiar lap
and soft *****
on this day so dear to her
Soul
I gaze wistfully across
unknown boundaries
and wave to my Mom
strolling through Paradise
hand in hand
with Jesus, Our Lord
With his usual Feng Shui flare
delicately, David snipped the
yellow antique rose
waiting expectantly in the garden
pouring water into an elegant vase
he carefully created a
refreshing, attractive arrangement
for our kitchen counter

It was such a perfectly formed rose
its central saffron petals appeared
as golden palms folded in prayer
and the outer petals rejoicing
we decided it deserved an exalted place
on our new cocktail table

I was busy preparing an Asian lunch
crisping the deep seaweed green nori sheets
I sprinkled finishing touches on a dish
of stir fried brown rice with steamed asparagus

As we graced the luscious, fragrant, yummy food
my eyes fell upon the sunlit rose
In many traditions it is said that
what we see and hear as we are eating is also
imbibed

If the ambiance is peaceful
and visually charming
perhaps with the added benefit
of some soothing music
we are literally eating
beauty
and more importantly
we also
bloom with beauty and harmony

Like sleeping beauty
She slumbered
on some remote island leaf
tucked away inside my heart

Sri Saraswati Devi
strums my heartstrings
awakening the
Ecstatic Muse

Leaving the world of fog
and phantom behind
She soars close to my ears
Singing her Sunrise Love song
“Honey you got yellow pollen all over your nose!”
exclaimed the cashier at Walmart  hurrying to hand me a tissue.
I had stopped to ask her if 4 O’Clocks did well here in florida.
“Oh-h-h” I giggled, “that’s from sniffing the Easter lilies.”
Lately, I have been trying to figure out how to
to add more fragrance to our southern garden.

There is plenty of color, the hibiscus has donned her frilly, coquettish
tangerine and red petticoats
The double begonias are showing off gorgeous salmon pink bonnets
much to the chagrin of their ******* clad penta sisters in
neighboring ceramic pots

Cape May daisies twirling dozens of yellow parasols
caper coyly across the lush terrain
and the newly planted milkweeds hold the promise
of glorious monarch butterflies alighting
on their burgeoning buds

For me the paradise of having a garden
right outside my door is a blessing of
huge proportions
a native New Yorker, I clearly remember
gazing out my window only to be greeted
by another building blocking any scrap of
green or organic color the cluttered urban landscape
had to offer

Thanking the sales lady I dashed off to Lowes
and found a jewel hiding amongst the rows
of spring plants and avid garden shoppers
Star of Tuscany a rose-like jasmine with a
perfume scent only angels could have designed

Whisking her away along with the enchanting
confederate jasmine I hurried home to plant
and welcome our sweet new companions

Later that evening while
swinging in the jhoola at Easter sunset
scarlet, gold and purple hues
cast a glow of hope over the garden of eden

Mother Nature renews herself perennially
shedding all that is not needed or useful
she leaves the sepulcher behind
wrapped in the throes and ecstasy of eternal love
she gives birth to eternal life
Earth renews Herself
again and again
Ocean spits out
what doesn't belong to it
See The Shining face of God
reflected in the clear
blue pellucid waters
Veridian waves wash over me
calm, healing currents
streaming over hot
black asphalt of my mind
racing in all directions

Emerald turf, tides rise up
surging, gushing from
open, uninhabited woodland lots
and neighborhood lawns

I smile totally in awe -
the thousand shades
of medicinal green elixirs
Nature concocts for us:
soothing jade, invigorating pine,
dazzling emerald, gentle fern,
happy go lucky shamrock, pensive moss
blessed, peaceful olive branches
repair, restore, revive
our flagging spirits

O Devi we take refuge in Your
alcoves of Green Goodness
and "lie down in Green pastures"
on your Divine lap
Hmmmm... something's in bloom
aromatic minty scents
whiff towards me
from the open, uninhabited woodland lot
on the corner of Perry Street

An intricate twisted, matted, tanglewood
of native weeds, flowers, tall grass, pine,
cram this patch of wild terrain

No houses block the balmy view
all sorts of odors, sights and sounds
mingle naturally with shafts
of sunshine and dense shadow

These jungle havens offer shade
and refuge sorely needed in the
sizzling Florida temps and
harsh global warning

Sadly, I watch as beautiful, stately
trees and shrubbery that have thrived
for decades are hacked down,
lots cleared for
building and selling more
and more houses

Now, as I pass an unscathed
forest dwelling
my heart bolts like a giddy gazelle
romping, cavorting blissfully
through the last...lost... sacred wilderness
Gopi star maidens roam
across an ever widening
void
searching for their darling Giridhari

"Krishna why have You abandoned us?"

"Your foot prints have gone cold and the music
of Your ankle bells are deathly silent"

"The universe is so colossal, baffling,
unfathomable, bewildering and
incomprehensible"

"Where are You?"

"We beg only for Your celestial embrace"

The Lord opens His ginormous, glittering,
galactic blue mouth and laughs
misty worlds evaporate and reappear

Elysian fields, sweet perfumed scents
of Paradise
sweep across our Souls
Beloved Krishna with the cashmere eyes
that old snake charmer
plays His golden flute
Radha seated eternally by His side

The empty jhoola swings
Thank you, yes
It is a remarkably beautiful day
there's a marshmallow moon
next to fluffy heart-shaped clouds
with wings

Sky goddess serves
morning tea to the
sun star under a tent
of azure veils

My hubby is feeling better
YAY!
And everything is ascending

Look up!
All around us beauty dances
scatters rainbow gems
and garlands
We may be physically distanced
My sweet love
But how can two hearts
that have been wedded,
welded together
Be in distance?
I am making myself beautiful for Hari
my sari is woven from rainbows
spun on the mystic loom of Heaven
the full moon has fallen headfirst
into the evening lakes of my eyes
there is only one love song that
blooms on the moist red petals of my lips
I have spread a golden net
bulging with gems of prema
and the dedicated fruits of my actions
Hariji
How can you resist the tender pleas of a devotee
eternally in love with You
Within the lotus pink petals
of my tear soaked *****
He has hidden His splendor

Under a raincloud the color
of His peacock skin

camouflaged

He waits

Darling Giridhari
I have driven the tenacious, evil
bats of hatred, envy, anger and
greed from the tall steel towers, belfry
of my mind

Nectarine incense of prayer
and contemplation on You
burns day and night on the altar
of my penitent heart

Ceaselessly my breath does not
hesitate to chant Your divine name

From these eyes the Yamuna river
pours and floods its banks
while I wait for You to
dance with me

Every season is an endless Winter
without your warm Spring embrace
snow drifts pursue and threaten to bury
the tender shoots of love

Hurry Hari Krishna
pull this poison cupid's arrow
from Your devotee's
smitten heart
Elusive Self
my heart calls
I have caught all
my teardrops in
a glass goblet
for you to swallow

Now you can gauge
the depths of my love

along the river banks
I glimpse your
azure face
and the sun's rays falling
prostrate at your spangled feet

sometimes I camouflage
myself as a golden deer
praying you'll bestow
a tender caress
one single rosebud kiss

possessed and enchanted
I stalk your inebriating
love
like a shadow chases the
light

Is there hope for me
beloved?

can I survive one instant
without You
It's a mystery to note
that despite how advanced in age we are
still we earnestly strive to survive, preserve
at all costs this physical entity

My sister, Vivien and I
watched vicariously
as our 91 year old Father
tubes plugged in every orifice and cavity
sat gripping the edge of his hospital bed
gasping for air

We didn't know it then, but he was suffering
a mild heart attack
mentally, tenderly we massaged
his Spirit with prayers

I thought to myself
how difficult it is to convince yourself
that you are not this body
while warm blood and passions rush
through veins and brick by brick
from birth we carefully construct,
insulate, protect, pamper and cater to
the whims and demands of this
terra firma

I stared numbly as hospital staff
wheeled Dad away for further tests
Emergency room visits were
fast becoming a regular ritual
Intravenous bags hang
heavy black nimbus clouds
stingily dispensing one last drop of mortality

my heart a stone sinking in my chest
plummeted with a thud into a bottomless
inky pool
so many poignant, familial memories
rowing merrily across the paper thin
surface of Life's fragile dream

I could sense my mother's intangible presence
close by
soft brown sepia eyes gazing tenderly
through the partially drawn diaphanous veils
chariots swinging low

father's condition is stable now
though they released him for the holidays
the appellation, "Comeback Charlie"
our nickname for his extraordinary
resilience and vigor
didn't have quite the same ring
something missing, that spark, stolen
reflected in hollow, vacant
jack-o-lantern eyes

I prayed as we prepared a tropical
fruit basket to cheer him up
that he would clearly see
an Angel not a thief
standing eternally by his side
O my darlings
When did we forget
who we are...?
When did we forget
that we are composed of
starlight mist and
Eternity's breath...?

Our names indelibly written
on angelic scrolls...

I gaze up at heaven's mirror
and behold a vast reflection
A luminous being stares back at me
Thousands of suns and moons
spinning in our eyes

O my darlings The Ecstasy of it all
Bastet
crouches in
dimly lit corridors
of the Egyptian temple
Her marble black skin
shimmering pools
incandescent green orbs
lit with altar fire
Feline Goddess
of the Nile
carries a kitten
by the scruff
gently she lowers
the newborn bundle
of fluffy joy
on our doorstep
Baby Rama
He who brings
enduring bliss
Galaxies
and all the Cosmos
reflected in his
sweet eyes
So close to You
No breath between us
exists

A shadow arcs
dark and empty
Illumined fiercely
By Your brilliance

A heart broken
and shattered
reflects Your face
In every jagged
fragment

I can never leave You
You can never leave me

Beloved
our fates are sealed
on the Scrolls
of Forever
Winter nuzzles His chilly
Ivory cheek
next to mine

Puffs of frozen air
hang like heart shaped clouds
around us

Crystal eyes gaze directly, clearly
unflinching
into my night sky orbs

His kiss is cold
but laser true

Together we skate
though colorful Christmas lights,
sequinned landscapes

Across constellations, borealis
and the Great Beyond
Loving it all with
vast polar bear hugs
I bathe my Father’s aged, worn, peeling
Nile brown feet
feet that once proudly trod the noble earth
from his island home in the Caribbean
to the island of Manhattan
around the world as a WW II vet and back
these feet are raw with life
patting them dry, gently filing the gnarled nails
even simple tasks like this so hard
for him to do now
and tender touches few and far between
He seems to enjoy the gentle foot
massage with sweet oils
my thoughts soak in rich memories of
Dad’s wise words and honest living
His imperfections, too, a monument,
a testament to one determined
to stay the course, to not quit, despite
emotional, economic and ethnic obstacles
anointing his feet with more oil,
I reflect on the early pain between us
how the balm of Love and Forgiveness
which soothes and softens
all calloused, hardened feelings
blessed us with healing
clasping my Father’s feet in my hands
I bow to his Lotus feet
he was my first glimpse of God and
Unconditional Love
At an airport garden in Hong Kong
I sit and refresh my traveling spirit
amidst an effusion of lucky bamboo
Crepe white and fuchsia orchids
coyly fan their geisha faces

The Morning Sun, at first a pale opal ember
climbing over slumbering, stone-washed
mountains

Roars into brilliance
like a golden Peacock Dragon
strutting through China blue skies

I smile inwardly....
let the moment sweep me off my feet
Breathe in......
colors, sights, sounds
gifts....fullness
The sun was at the perfect angle
a flock of white Florida Ibis
were suddenly transformed
into a luminescent amethyst purple
I stood in awe
what a jeweled sight!
a terrific start to
my morning stroll
I walked down shaded streets
I'd named feng shui way
because of their delightful beauty
A group of trees framed
the China blue sky
and a perfectly formed
pukalani eye peered down at me
One particular house
really captured the
spirit of feng shui
several light and airy gourds
swayed and floated in the soft breeze
the mailbox was surrounded
with mandarin orange marigolds
fuscia colored lantana
and periwinkle
ethereal pink trumpet blossoms
resembling Chinese chime bells
rang silently
and the elegant Oriental
garden gates greeted the
passerby with folded palms
My spirits lifted I finished my walk
with bright smiles, grateful smiles
sailing upward towards the
Star Lord of the solar palace
Here we go again...
waiting on the banks
shores of samsara
returning...
reborn...
our tears flood the
ocean floor
lapping at the merciful feet
of the Lord
His spear pointing
towards the stars
Guide us home
Auspicious One
ferry us to Forever
Beloved
Cup your azure hands
blow the little spark
embers of You
into full Awareness

Radiant Self
illumine the
very tears, kisses, smiles
that drop like suns
from my eyes

kneeling at the altar of my
heart You have lit
an eternal flame that cannot be
extinguished

save me blessed One from
the cold black ashes
dungeon darkness
of another life
another womb
I pray…..
Beautiful clover drifts
blanket Florida embankments and sidewalks
creating an illusion of snow
that has us dreaming of a White Christmas

There was a slight chill in the air a few days ago
and my grandson Alex threw a few logs into the
the crackling fireplace hearth on his computer

Holiday lights and tropical hibiscus flowers
bloom vividly across houses and lawns
and puffy white clouds build frosty snowmen
in the blue cerulean skies

I spotted a really super cute Christmas tree ornament
that splendidly describes Christmas in Florida:
A smiling Santa Claus with a long white beard
riding Rudolph the rednosed dolphin

Merry Christmas Everyone! Peace On Earth Goodwill Towards Men!
Arms of the velveteen night
are filled with stars and dreams

Wistfully I peer from my rose bay window
wandering gypsy soul
breathe in His luminous embrace
He will never forsake you

Our sapphire companion
hears our earnest prayers
a thousand shooting stars
flying fast towards
Heaven's doorstep

Long suffering tears
turn to dew in the moonlight
kisses like fireflies
alight on our tremulous lips

And evening winds
ardently whisper.....

"I Love You"
I sat with my Lord under
a shaded oak tree in sweet solitude
a cool breeze blew through the halo of His hair
and the butterfly flutter of His soft saffron robes
gently blessed the pining earth
every now and then the intoxicating aroma of jasmine
wafted from His holy skin
luminescent swans in His lotus orbs, floating on
the pure, pellucid streams of Eternity
sailed straight towards me as we gazed
transfixed into each others flying saucer eyes
He laughed at my dazzled enchantment
and whispered in coaxing tones
"Sing for me little one"
pressing the melodious murali flute to His
dainty lips
transported us to the Highest Heavens.......
They are calling me...
They say I'll get ill if I stay too long
inside this modern teepee

My body belongs to the raven Earth
and warm breath to the hooting owl winds
turtledove spirits are cooing
thunder flashes a lightning smile
Sun opens his golden parasol
for the Divine mother
long braids of willow branches swing
down trunks with stories
too numerous carved on them

The air kisses my face and
I remember I have wings

There is a songbird in my throat
and a campfire always burning
in the woodlands of my soul
Forest bathing with David
lush jade tropical oasis opens its portals
It's been pretty **** steamy and humid here
so I love this ... Attunement

Together our eyes rest on the frog green
bulrush stalks shooting up from
the edge of the gully
diving into refreshing shades
mint, turquoise, parakeet,
filtered silver light, amber browns, pink lichen

A cool feeling pervades our spirit
we allow ourselves to be swept away
from red hot lava pavements
into dense dark yin recesses
of our mini Florida jungle
David tells me they actually prescribe
Forest bathing medicinally in Japan

Shamans of the forest
Healing hands of our
tree brothers and sisters
ozone breath
soft earth shadows
kindly touch our bodies

Elder pine's deep emerald gaze
Bestows a benediction:

"Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it.
Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.
All things are bound together.
All things connect."
—Chief Seattle, 1854
Woe is me
Alas
again I have fallen for Maya!
succumbed this lifetime to the sway of
her ***** hips
and full red lips
like a vampire she
***** the life
of Spirit
bewitches the aspirant
with impermanent bliss
lurks in sultry, silken shadows
a serpent ready to ambush
Hari! Hari!
deliver Your devotees
from her glamorous talons
and sirens’ song
We have struggled through
mud, slime, feast and famine
to gain this human form

The animals swimming, crawling
hopping, pouncing, flying, galloping
inside of us

Vestiges of the past that try to
claw and growl their way toward
the surface of our consciousness
like ***** in a barrel
pulling us backwards
into a vortex of anger, hatred
territorial jealousy and vicious
emotions

This life is too precious to
waste
our angel wings ache
to soar
beyond the temporal
and petty
to heights Divine
Immortal, Deathless
and Free
Today my tears refused
to be imprisoned
while watching a film
on Gandhi's life

His unflinching, Godly resolve
moments of exhilaration and
plummeting despair

Christ-like love for Humanity
an example the world has
yet to follow

O' Gandhiji Your sacrifice
and dedication will
never be forgotten

Like Jesus, Buddha and
all the great Mahatmas
you died with the name
of God on your lips
Serenity of the Buddha fountain
graces our garden
His wise presence flows
steadily over thorns, thistle
and rocks that jut across the pathway
creating obstacles in our lives

There was turmoil, misery,
calamity in His generation
just like today
The Ravanas of our time
prowl earth’s gardens
seeking to abduct and ravage
goodness, love, purity, truth

Illustrious Gautama gained the perfect
peace that passeth understanding
by treading the middle path and realizing
that pushing the envelope
indulging in all types of extreme behavior
sabotages our mental, emotional and physical
well being

He declared to His disciples as they
wandered through the world that
desire is the cause of all suffering
and like the Master Jesus encouraged them
“to be in the world not of it”
This He knew could be actualized by
the right use of the senses,
loving, compassionate service to mankind
and having a still, tranquil mind
through the process of
meditation

Twilight dusk blankets the garden
The Buddha twinkling under a
panorama of evening stars
a crystal ball spinning luminously
in his hands
illumines our beaten path
from His radiant pedestal,
beneath the Bodhi tree
“The Sun of Enlightenment Shines”
tending the garden is a lot like cultivating the mind
maintaining balance, harmony and symbiosis
is essential for both flora and fauna
providing proper PH for the soil,
fertilizing and feeding each plant
with the right kind of food
mindful irrigation, going with the flow
plenty of bustling sunshine
as well as periods of deep shade and contemplation
and lets not forget those blessed weeds
only takes a good spring rain
to turn your botanical oasis into a
wild and woolly patch of snarling jungle animals
chattering monkeys swinging from
rampant running vines
tenacious elephants stomping over
shrinking african violets
hungry, growling lions stalking the marigolds
take a deep breath, get centered try not to curse them
after all, it has been said that one man's ****
is another man's flower
gently I tug the miscreant roots
and regain my composure
realizing, they too, have a place in the Cosmic
scheme of things
the brass Buddha smiling between
the hawaiian plumeria and ruffled hot pink hibiscus
winks at me
as I evenly, attentively, consciously align and establish
stepping stones on the Middle path
there's a fairy with a harp
a white moon spirit
in my garden

at twilight when
purple iris tides flood
the western horizon
and the evening star
hovers brightly over
her ***** head
she tiptoes past the
Lakshmi lotus fountain
tossing golden coins at our feet
and if in the mood
she swings in the jhoola with me

when the atmosphere thins
and we see through the walls
our imaginations have built
if you listen with a
fine-tuned ear you can
surely hear her
Celtic swan~song rippling...
carrying us across
gossamer wavelengths
to distant luminous shores
evening bells ring
silent vespers
call to prayer
the earth lays her
head on Heaven's breast
our tears mingle with the rain
and the huddled gray masses
and I know even my faint
whisper can be heard
I love you
The Universe is our Kamasutra
constellations, red tailed comets
brilliant devas, divine horsemen
prance through the galactic playground
everywhere and in everything
our eyes behold a starry courtship

Romance impregnates the very air
we breathe

billowy breezes caress our bodies
and the sun does not hesitate
to shower us with burning kisses
mysterious lady of the coven night
cools the passions of the day
with dreamy moonlight and
soft melody

Innocent, pristine
we experience, explore and
enjoy the sacred foreplay
blooming in the garden
of our chakras

So vastly turned on
feeling  high
expansive
all inclusive

How can we contain the
bliss that courses
through every particle
and atom towards its
ultimate collective
consummation

Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati
locked forever in the throes of Love
“Spirit and Nature dancing together”
My hubsy and I went for a moonlit stroll
graceful billowy branches gently ripple above us
Black swans sailing in the moonlight

Squawking sounds of katydids, crickets, frogs
sawing zzz's and occasional loud drone of
rap music cut through, punctuated the
brisk night air

As we meandered our shadows
grew taller, towering temple steeples
stretching across patchy luminescent streets

We even caught a fleeting glimpse of our
silver sillhouettes superimposed
like Milky Way gods over the heavens

I looked at my darling spouse, heart palpitating
my hand tucked cozily into his

"We are Vast Beings David," I whispered tenderly
"So much more that we realize."
Carefully, I deadhead the pink Kalanchoe
in the flamboyant red and yellow
Mexican ***
and move it to a spot where it can get
more sun

gratefully the shrubby cultivar
gazes skyward

Beloved
prune the dead zones
in my heart too
transport me to a sacred place
on the patio of Your magnificent Love

A rainbow arching towards Your dazzling light
I  pressed the exercise ball against the
gym wall slowly pushing it upward
breathing deeply I repeated to
myself
“God is present now”
“God is present now”
I walked towards the women’s locker
room  holding onto that thought intensely
a child sitting in the softly illumined alcove
turned to look at me
brief wordless sweet communion
flashed electrically between us
an angelic expression
emanated from her ivory porcelain face
as if all the cares, joys and sorrows of the world
were bundled up inside her tiny form
…God is present now…God is present now
In the twilight zephyrs
under milky way skies
I stroll beside my peacock plumed God

Along the banks of the Yamuna river
with captivating charm
He teaches me
the Language of Love

Honeybees buzz around us
even though the coral pink
sun has melted into a
puddle of nectar at
His silken lotus Feet
and all the flowers have
folded their drowsy petals

raven heavens raise their
ebony veils and a
chorus of rhapsodic stars
chant Krishna's glorious name

I feel His raincloud blue face
close to mine
lightning from His eyes
strikes my Soul

...and We dance...

A trillion psychedelic umbrellas
whirling, dazzling Sufi circles
beneath the Golden parasol
of God's enormous
Love

Sunrise bathes me with His gold
my complexion has turned a golden hue
my hairs are rays of light now
and lips amber gems
gaze into my eyes beloved
pools of sweet honey swirl
come sit by this blushing lotus pond
and we will sing luminous songs of the Sun
In the wide-open frontier
That I Am
a hint of vastness
embraces me
From a balcony in the heavens
Sai Avatar surveys
His luminous creation
Winged worlds
Spiraling galaxies
Timeless superluminal
light years
orbit His celestial finger

I gaze wonderstruck......
Swami's fathomless eyes
eclipse the dark night
a thousand suns rise in
every atom of my being

And the Earth turns....
Golden

"There is no force on earth that can delay for an instant the mission for which this Avatar has come. You are all sacred souls, and you will have your parts to play in the unfolding drama of the new Golden Age, which is coming."

Sri Sathya Sai Baba
Sanathana Sarathi, October 1996, back cover
the arrow of Your love pierces deep
wounded I fall into your arms
a willing supplicant
while You kiss away the
tears, blood and fear of death
a strange bliss engulfs us
like a fever suddenly breaking
scarlet clouds burning off
My days are numbered...
the body casts a shadow
penumbra
across the lustrous face
of Time

Soon I will fall,
silent pendulum
prostrate
into Your celestial arms
Swamiji
a Lotus petal
drifting down from heaven

Swollen tears crash against
riverbanks
golden fish swim in limpid, rippling
black iris pools of my eyes

And the wild throbbing of
my soul
cannot contain
this love that
soars unfettered, undying
perpetually
towards...
You
Surya Lights the blazing candle in the sky
and our day begins
on a pillow of clouds my spirit
bows at His vast blue altar

In fact, gods, goddesses, earthlings
and all the inhabitants of the Cosmos
kneel and prostrate at His glorious, life giving Feet

Today Lord Surya ascends to His northernmost
temple in the heavens
Courtly tablas boom, traditional Indian trumpets blare

Sweet sticky aroma and flavors of
sesame and jaggery confection
overflow in banquet halls on earth and in Kailasa

Colorful kites, bits of starry confetti
drift downward from the celestial celebration

David and I, our hands folded in prayer
stand on the front lawn offering our salutations
to the Golden Lord

By Serendipitous good fortune, my brother Chris just happens
to pass by at this moment and stops to join
us in our Sun worship

Happy Makar Sankranti
May Surya Deva's auspicious saffron rays
bless you with Peace, Love and Prosperity
