I search for ox of the land of heaven
Swiped and yelled but no avail
I am innocent and ignorant
Blinded by my own existence

Until I look down and see footprints
I followed and ran without attention
Is this the ox of the heaven?
I shall see when I have a glimpse

A glimpse of the oxtail
I ran and chased the ox through the hill
The faster I ran, the more ox I see
Through the battles nowhere to be

The ox I see
And the ox I catch
But its strength
Keep me off balance

Then the ox is tamed
And everything seems complete
But it was the self that cannot see
That the ox was no enemy

Upon that realization
I ride the ox as its friend
I sing the song of love and joy
On the way home to heaven site

I see the ox no longer there
And I let my being run its course
The ox appears in everything
And the self began to pray deeply

I prayed in love and joy
Until the self and the ox merge to one
No more chasing or seeking
Only infinite nothing

As I return to being
The root is now clear
The beauty and love of all things
Colorful and joyest forever without end

So I laugh, and I sing
For the ox is me and all things
I walk down the path of mortal life
And know that there is a heave inside

A green, unseasoned ox
Was put unto the plow
A yoke was placed upon it
To work the master's rows
It balked at the job given
For it did not know how.

The master saw it's plight
He knew it had to learn
So he brought a great and seasoned ox
And a double yoke was worn
They both pulled a wagon
Filled from stem to stern.

The master tapped them with the reins
They both began to pull
The new and yet unknowing ox
Got it in its skull
To go a path that was unsafe
It's wits were yet quite dull.

So it balked again and cried
To go the other way
But the great and seasoned ox
Stood there in the fray
He allowed the younger ox
To buck and buck all day.

So finally the younger ox
Was tired, began to wheeze
It knew it was defeated
It's pride was finally seized
It bowed down in humility
And fell onto its knees.

The ox cried bitterly
In its enormous shame
The other ox was greatly moved
For its weeping out HIS NAME
He nuzzled it & stroked it
For HE was once the same.

The master, too, came off his seat
And succored the poor beast
He gave it food and water
Held it to his breast
The greater ox lay down with it
So that it could rest.

The young ox finally rallied
Was ready for the fight
Of pulling the great burden...
... but found that it was light!
For the greater ox was pulling, too
He stout and he forthright!

The master smiled proudly
The young ox would reach the goal...

And what WAS this great burden?

Billions of HUMAN SOULS...

*"Come to me, all you who are weary
and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from
me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy,
and my burden is light."

Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
The Bible gives us great analogies to our walk with the Lord. This particular metaphor, I believe, is extremely apt. In biblical times when there was a great burden to be hauled, the Master of the cart would yoke an unseasoned ox with one who had carried the cart for many years. The younger learned from the older. And the burden what's much lighter for both oxen...

I haven't been around much due to my personal burden. I was also balking at the yoke I was carrying. But Jesus is so gentle and kind. He helped me through it.

Thank you to all who read me! I'm going to be reading myself today...

An ox did once tell me a tale
and I listen to his voice unveil,
An ox did once tell me a tale.

It starts with hooves and ends in May,
I dare not, a word I dare not say,
It starts with hooves and ends in May.

It speaks of mountains old and new,
Of such grandeur I did not knew,
It speaks of mountains old and new.

He sits atop  a sailing stone,
And moves without moving a bone,
He sits atop a sailing stone.

An ox that moves by standing still,
It’s so massive, no wolf dares ****
an ox that moves by standing still.

The stone is cold and shrinks away,
It does not sail in light of day,
The stone is cold and shrinks away.

Under the moon a stone shall dance,
And one could tell with just a glance,
Under the moon a stone shall dance.

It melts away under the sun,
And when the night is done
it melts under the sun.

He tells a story of his crime
I listen to his voice, sublime.
He tells the story of his crime.

The ox was young and fell in love,
He did at first see stars above.
The ox was young and fell in love.

A lady red, of skin pale-white,
The ox with love he couldn’t fight!
A lady red, of skin pale-white.

She came to him and whispered loud
Of how her dream would make her proud,
She came to him and whispered.

He told his story to a point
He would not let me go beyond
He told his story to the point.

I listened close and said right back,
“I know your pain, I lived it too”,
I listened close and said right back.

“I knew a lady, pale and red
And I did take her to my bed,
The lonely lady, pale and red.

She looked at me with deep-blue eyes
And I thought I found paradise,
I lost myself in deep-blue eyes.

She came to me and whispered high
That now we have to say goodbye…
She came to me and whispered high.”

And so the ox told me a tale
As I looked in a mirror, pale.
And so the ox was told a tale.
