A skeptical, theoretical physicist,
Composed poetry frenzidly all night,
Got enlightened, went beyond limits,
Made peace with the equation ultimate!
the day that he was born
held tightly to the cord
pulled himself back in
had heard about the world

said i'm not sure i'm ready
for this crazy social scene
i'll just stay here holding steady
till something better comes to me

evidently here it's very clear
inside the warmth of the womb
is a safer place for restful days
than this world of ****** tunes
We stood on this side of the fence
Two boys just biding our time
There was a job that had to be done
That job lay on the other side

I brought the pick ax and shovel
Bobby the tarp and the twine
We synchronized our watches
Both read a quarter past nine

With the fence now far behind us
We used the cloak of the night
To reach our destination
Behold, such a heavenly sight

So as not to wear ourselves out
We both shared in the work
While one kept steady watch
The other was shoveling dirt

Bobby was the first one to hear it
That glorious heart throbbing THUD
Both of us working the tarp
We rolled our jolly friend up

Wondering if we'd made a mistake
As sirens and flood lights filled the night
For regrets sake it's much to late
In our rear view the Memphis sky line

The moment we pulled into the drive
There was a great sigh of relief
A job that was well done
The King smiles from the back seat

Can anyone actually blame us
Or even call it a crime
When my Granny just wanted to see Elvis
One last time before she died
Just heard on the radio that the 16th of this month was the 41st anniversary of Elvis's death... Wow!
Beginnings and endings
Marked by unique tombstones
Each a fingerprint
Of great creators
I feel like a snake

Shedding its old skin

Shaking and snaking

Out of the old

And remaking and refreshing

What is new

What is to come

What it can transform into

Shiny, new, smooth

No longer hanging on to the old

Not safe keeping it

Simply shedding it

Leaving it behind

I’m snaking away into

A new place

I have not forgotten the old

I’ve just simply grown new skin

Tougher and sharper

Better than before

I remember the old

Like it was just yesterday

And older still

Are the ones before

I’ve left them in various places

In remembrance

Of the good times

And the bad

All to learn

Something new

To grow into my new skin.

Tonight is a cluster of
Recognitions, remembrances
Mostly reminiscence
Which sift in the breeze
Gusting beneath the temporary
Tarpaulin tent

Backs are slapped
Arms embraced
Smiles predominate
As shiny faces and gleaming  foreheads
Illuminated by flashing cameras
Twinkle like fireflies displaying
In a muggy June meadow

Photos pulled from stained
Billfolds move from hand to hand
Displaying glossies of babies, graduations
Weddings and “The big catch”

Relatives, friends and officials
Find their place on folded metal chairs
For a wedding ceremony

Tonight has become a gathering
Marriage planned for tonight
A thousand years from now,
there would be no more me.
The streets will be brand new
And civilization will have taken a different dimension.

A thousand years from now,
technology would replace human digestion process.
A thousand years from now,
men of amazing genius will walk on the sky.

A thousand years from now,
Science will repaint the sky.
A thousand years from now,
The world would rewire it's solar system.

A thousand years from now,
would I still be remembered?
A thousand years from now,
Will the grave have curtailed me?

A thousand years from now,
I would still be with you.
A thousand years from now,
My pen will still wipe your tears.
Dedicated to all who come behind me.
