Oh, bird how can you sing?
and today of all days you bring
little twigs and colors green
to fall among dead flowers.
Do you know of this lost garden?
How can your heart beat so
amidst such troubled, sorrow?
Still you fly joyous in the morning sky
lighting hearts afire in the early dawn
long before the sun.
Roots ain't pretty
But without them
there would be no flowers

If I hadn't been through all I did
I wouldn't have the compassionate
insight that I have now.
I'm glad my past had some dirt.
A plant needs soil to grow.

I want the grass to continue to creep between the toes of the youth,
The youth who step forth into a brighter tomorrow.
To awaken the youth who continue to sleep,
While storing their secrets
While they're standing on quicksand.
They're holding so tight to the good and the right.
Larva for tomorrow,
They, who are making their choices and singing their noises.
As they step into the big blurry yonder,
they sit and they wonder.
They're pondering over topics,
such as the meaning of life,
They're looking for a reason to keep on living the life they were given.
They're loving, they're dreaming of life, and its meaning.
The insignificance of youth,
Some maybe uncouth,
At this moment in time,
Their future is theirs,
Once it was mine.

If I had the words
A gift of wings that would not fail
Set my sword
To perforate the veil
Cut this clinging death away
Let the light fall like rain
Solace on a summer day
But I’m bound
Dragging shackles and chains
Starving for grace
As I choke on the profane

Sacrificed my petty dreams
Bled out on the altar of fools
Propitious as light might have been
I let darkness set the rules
Circumstance stultifies the child inside
Nullifies the need
To hope for a greater salvation
My spirit fights but my head concedes
Lost in the chaos around me
If I surrender who will lead

And if by chance you went walking
Through the shattered past I’ve left behind
Pick your way through emotional wreckage
Find my inner child deaf dumb and blind
This failing hope will not carry me
As I struggle toward the light
And so I wait abandoned
As the world spins fast toward night.
I know the truth you cannot see
What I carry hidden in me…

Morose and peppered with self loathing. But HEY it rhymes....sorta
Undressed by window,
Her body enthralls the moon,
  .  .  .  I am left blinded.
Monday was *****
cried all night
ate eggs for breakfast.
Tuesday,
okay,
not much to say,
except it was *****.
Wednesday I signed on
dined on
sardines.
Thursday,
probation,
a line on damnation
it was *****.
Friday,
I think why stay,
look at what's passed.
Saturday at last
and the week has gone fast
but not fast enough.
Sunday to pray,
to get far away
perhaps
tomorrow will be better.
Over staggering mountains steep
and lumbering valleys deep
I struggle to reach your arms
for my heart is yours to keep

A shield against evil and foe
armor for wars and woe
I fight to keep you safe
my life to be your shadow

A muse to make you laugh
a shoulder when times get tough
I breathe to hold you close
your joy is air enough

A river to wash away your tears
A memory to roll back the years
I live to lessen your grief
I am broken without you, my dear

for my heart is yours to keep
There is nothing better in the world, than to lose oneself, in something or someone you love.

She doesn't rush to judgement
when my resolutions crumble
when my morals take a tumble
she can help them to their feet
She can hold onto the good times
when the bad times try to find her
try to deafen and to blind her
she dismisses their deceit
She has seen me as a ruin
when my failures all unmask me
when the black eyed dog attacks me
and I don't know what I am
When the human race deserts me
I'm rejected and reviled
I'm a helpless little child
still she lets me be a man
And I cannot long be broken
though the clouds begin to gather
When I realise I have her
And she calmly calls their bluff
And her wisdom reassures me
I'll have little call to save her
though I would return the favour
just to love her is enough.
