i want to live
that's a lie
i want to die
it doesn't matter
the pain i feel
has become too real
the brightness in my life
has quickly gone away
the darkness
overcame me
the love in my life
slipped through my fingers
the sadness
took over
the light

Crushed flowers are beautiful,
dried, pressed
not useful but certainly nice to look at
My sister affectionately called me a 'delicate little flower' one of the many times you made me break down, crushed from false accusation
until i eventually dried up
pressed myself until the pain no longer hurt.
I wondered why i had become such a fragile thing
shouldn't heartbreak build you up, a learning experience rather than reducing you to a few petals and a stem.
i feel more like a tree
green and great during the warm summer months
unaware of the freezing winter winds that will blow away all my protective leaves. barren. cold.
i hope someday i will become evergreen
beautiful, tall, luscious and full- pine or cedar or spruce
staying fragrant all year round

but for now i remain a daisy
nothing special
dried, pressed and crushed between these pages, within these words.

Shock

ever since we stopped
I wake up every morning
eyes fly open, feel in shock
hand grasps for the phone.

even though I know there is
nothing I could read that would
fix us or you or me,

I'm still crushed you didn't write.
why do I keep doing this to me.

I’m a poet whose imagination’s died,
a galaxy whose sun’s ceased to shine.
Pray for me, for I am lost.
The builder didn’t count the cost.

Laid in a tomb behind a stone,
swallowed by a fish in the deep unknown,
I’m waiting for my day to come
when you make me speak
like you healed the dumb.

Call my name and there I’ll come.
Loose me and I’ll freely run.
I’m just waiting for your hand
to pull me on the sea again.

There I’ll see you in the light,
the water’s calmed and the moon is bright.
Little, yes, my faith may be,
but I’ll try again, just wait and see.

She was the art of beauty
perfected in human form
and I was a helpless wanderer
lost in the pages of her fairy and magic
and her name was the birth of poetry
and her kiss taught flame and fire
how to dance
and her smile was the moon
and the sun and the everything
and the heart of love
beat in her chest
she plucked a black feather
from the night
and taught the raven how to fly
and the humming bird how to sing
she planted the first tree
from the last tear of spring
and carved the first leaf
from autumns skull
while telling stories to dragons and their young
and gave them a butterfly
with a map hidden in its wings
should they ever need to escape
to the safety of dreams
where she would be waiting
to teach starfish to fly
and planets to swim
and sculpting hearts
of wonder and clay
for whomever may need
something new
for something broken
and it would all be a dream
of a dream
and in the end
it would still be a love
of a love
as we all get lost
in the art of her beauty
perfected in human form

Street light's red
He fondles his girl
She appreciates his touch
Love is in the air tonight
The ****** tension is unbearable
They cannot wait to get home
To explore each other's bodies in bed

Street light's amber
The car behind honks its horn
He is caught off guard
His girl gets up to look out of the sunroof
Her denim shorts rest against his face
He is distracted by her glamour

Street light's green
He slams his foot down on the pedal
The engine revs and the vehicle jerks forward
He hasn't even grabbed the wheel yet
His girl loses her balance and falls into him
His hands knock the wheel
The car swerves into the intersection
He curses and tries to gain control of the car
His girl tries to regain her balance
But a semi ploughs into the vehicle from the left
The vehicle is tipped onto its side and scrapes against the street
His girl screams and tries to get back inside
Another car speeds by in panic and it hits his girl
Her head is ripped off by the impact
He is knocked unconscious
Their foolishness caused this scene

Sirens ring in the distance
He regains his consciousness and climbs out of the wreck
He evaluates the damages to figure out the costs
But he stumbles upon a sight which will haunt him to this day
The body of his girl spread out and mutilated by the crash
Her blood pours out of her neck and pools in the street
This night was to end in splendour
Yet their actions only resulted in misery
