on your last day
the sun was shining
and big white clouds ran across the sky

someone held you tight
and told you, "i love you"
admired you
and cherished you

on your last day
all of your love poured out

you inspired
and you soared
you lived
and you died

your love remains
always

I diluted a part of myself
that I could no longer
retrieve until
I let myself go
in the sun dehydrating
the toxic liquid that filled me
with so much fantasy

she’s not happy enough,
she’s not sad enough.

the light from our window,
a crucifix on the lawn;
in rooms we are heavy as actors
slow as a conscience in twilight
as we created a house with shade

and it might have been we
searched with unstilled eyes
the warm garden lost in shadow

but no, the wind stole our sight.

In a time before man
In a tranquil young land
Stood nature's towering fortress
Its base etched with wisdom
Of the whispering trees
And melodies sang deep in the forest

Solemn
Serene
But up where its green
Another sight was to be held
The bundles on branches
were bounded by string
But there was a spirit
that couldnt be quelled

And thats where they say
On that autumn day
The very first leaf
fell

On a gentle thin veil
And invisible sail
The little green kite
Took flight

The carefree cardinals
And the chittering chipmunks
Hadn't a clue in the slight
Of the expedition
Of the leaf that had risen
Happening in the calm daylight

Relishing in its dominion
It turned to bright crimson
Then it was buried in white

Now when autumn's flame has settled in
And frosty wind rolls past the skin
Sound the winter bell
For all the leaves have fell
