Jumping Fences
Michael Merther Oct 2018
His life spent jumping fences and somehow forgetting the sign that said no trespassing. If he had listened to that he would have never made it out of his backyard
I never liked seeing a fence when I was little, very good at climbing now that I'm older.

Nothing but his backpack
Michael Merther Nov 2018
Armed with nothing but his backpack and some dreams, he set out among the trees. In search of questions that even the wisest of men have not asked.

The Storm
Michael Merther Oct 2018
Alone and cold
Desperate for even a hint of warmth in this biting wind
I try to weather the storm
Head hung low
Cold in this lonely endeavor
Cold like this gaping maw reopened inside
Eating all that is me
Alone
Cold
In a horrible little hole now

Burn the memory of you
Michael Merther Oct 2018
Theres nothing left to do
But burn the memories of you

Strike the match, create a spark, I find myself detach, find a way through the dark
The fire burns
Something in me still yearns to hear you one more time, but I know memories of you cant return

My hands stained with ash
Thinking of you I hack and slash
My heart and mind clash and crash. Left with the whiplash

My clothes smell of smoke
Remembering how it feels for my heart to be broke
Tearing up the feelings you invoke
Wishing we never even spoke
Feeding the fire I continue to stoke

I know theres nothing left that I can do
Everything has to burn through
Every last memory of you
Relationships are a troubling thing. Wish I hadnt met her and been so hurt.

Nichole
Michael Merther Oct 2018
You showed me your wrist
Your map of pain
If only I could show you my scars
My memories of violence
Then perhaps you and I can find some measure of peace
Stay strong everyone. You will see morning.

Eons and Echos
Michael Merther Oct 2018
I lay awake, staring deep into the heavens. Listening for echos. The universe sighs in its archaic and beautiful tones, waiting for the lucky few to hear. Whispers of ancient events, older than time, unfolding above me.
The stars are something important to me. I often find myself gazing up often.
