Everything in my life
Falling apart
And
Simultaneously
everything in my life
pulling itself together
The truth is
life breaks everyone
life breaks everything
Nevertheless
I choose positive thoughts
I choose adaptability
I choose compassion
I choose gratitude
I choose love
I choose humility
I choose courage
I choose to keep moving forward
I choose to create a beautiful life
within the ugliness of it all
I choose to reach inside myself
and ignite a fire that will burn
forevermore
And at the end of it all
I know I will emerge victorious
within those broken places

The chill autumn breeze
The tall and brown rustling trees
Come dead falling leaves

moving past the foliage
I smack back
the tangled brush
a strange truth revealed
my emotions in a rush
Here I am
in this hell-hatched bind
braced against the winds
grasping at shards
           of the Divine
for they're inside me,
all those pieces
jagged glass and soft meringue
my innards humming
shades of the blues
in offbeat notes of pain
and I know that deep within
between my earthly
beats of heart
resides a light that's
only mine
that slices through
this drape of dark

It's a heavy nightcloak breaking
as I reach out from
                     the abyss
praying for the comfort
of my soul's
bright morning
                kiss

if water was made to taste sweet
and pure and fluid in motion
then why do I look in your eyes
and see a most stormy ocean
where boats do sink
and love is but a barren
island, almost swallowed by
the waves of self loathing.
Where boats do sink,
and lonely travellers need no hope
because they all think
that you are enough.
Your minutes sustain them,
like sand running through
their fingertips till
they're done with you.
And boats do sink
before they wash ashore
you cast out an anchor
but they want more
And so you remain, an island
untouched
your love is barren,
you are not enough.
