Coffee stained sweaters
swollen bit lips
mistakes that stayed forever
wounds that never healed
apologies told
relationships mended
now that I have you
I'm reminded by how it ended

I search for tones in your speech
quivers in your voice
hints in your texts
movements in your body
I can't forget how we failed
how we might make it this time
and why either is
just as likely as the other

Do I love you?
Or am I just used to you?

Our mortal sins and fatal flaws,
our selfishness for "the better cause".
Our greed, our envy and lust,
our desire for acceptance, our ignorant trust.
Our broken promises and tainted lies,
the human race, the smog filled skies.
Just kind of wrote it.
What do you think? Do any of you have suggestions for future poems? Areas of strength, weakness? I'd really like to hear some feedback! Thank you for reading.

Let us
teach the stars how to dance
guide the constellations into a lemniscate
bend their chaotic lines
trace different paths for them.

Let me
decorate the ballroom with shadows
drape the night against the walls
scatter moonlight across the floor
feed our guests cosmic dust

And you will
buy me a dress of starlight
wear a suit of midnight
touch me the way you would a moonstone
take me to the celestials.

Let us
dance the night away.

I say
She understands
Not everything I do
She approves
Not all acts of mine
She finds good

She just knows

My mind’s every line.

Not everything I speak
She finds sweet
Not everything I love
She loves
Not all ways of mine
She finds good

She just finds me

For her just fine.
Naked minds clash together
Onwards and then forever
Bold poets with words to tell
Only rising high and then fell
Drawn faces with obsession
Yet they hide deep depression

So fighting to be understood
Pouring emotions as they should
Everyone with metaphors of pain
Crafting in tears of pouring rain
Inwards seeking out special meaning
As somewhere lost hope is gleaming
Let me tell you, you're special to me

Tasting the malice
Of true love's poison
In a gold chalice
On life's horizon
Fear of memories
Of cold, dead pictures
Stood in cemetries
As stone fixtures
True love will provide
Its own antidote
And cure the inside
Of this lonely boat
That sails empty seas
Of poor lover's pleas
