Once I used to drink
with this girl who told me
we could live on an island
if I never touched her

she had this way with words

sit at the foot of my bed
she said, like a ghost

watching the boat in the cove
lose hope for its shadow

these days she hides
behind the shades
still wanting me to find her

somebody to love.

Mutual...
Like the beach,
sparkling with radiance.
Openly welcoming the soothing
caress of the waves.
Allowing them to
playfully tug
at her toes
before retreating back
into the ocean tide.

Mutual...
Like the leaf,
that shines amber
in the autumn sun.
Silently inviting the wind
to sweep it off the threats
of the brittle twig.
Trusting the breeze to set it aloft,
in a whimsical spiral
before releasing it gently
into the safety of the ground below.

Mutual...**
Like you and I.
As we confidently
match each other's
gait in a display
of song and dance.
Though our exchange
remains unworded,
the promise of love
rings clear within
the clasp of your
willing hands
in mine.

Showers of green, spark
On the leafing trees leaping
With a star.  Gusty rains, spread,
Like sowing from spirited heaven,
Are weaving the moist blankets
That life cuddles in.  Blooms
Burst into the freshnesses
On parade, the butterflies
So soon sweeping the air
With daydreams of colour
Into the light of the crystal dew
Which shimmers in the grasses,
And the wildflowers are beading
With the bees homing for honey,
In webs of abundance, of newness
After the hushed, blanched shrouds
Of winter, over growing, everywhere
Joy breaks, seems in seconds coming,
There is threading explosion, of miracle,
Such Edens in the wild gardens who cling
And glow for that one true love, new brand,
April spring day song, clutched in Lordy sun.

You were born of oceans,
glacial upheavals melting
a temperate forest of raining seas
I climbed your stair step moss
to see night stars mingle with fir trees
I watched through the night
only sleeping when stars did,
when birds came echoing
through your woods,
at first light, in mists of fog
verily I slept
in forest song

The angels that you can and cannot see
float in and out of life so gracefully;
enfold in winged embraces one by one,
celestial comforters when day is done.
Some angels take the shapes of passers-by
so you might see the Spirit in their eyes.
A smile that lifts the day from the mundane;
a kind hand up, a loving act conveyed.
The unseen angels hover in the realm
where power manifested overwhelms
our common senses. There behind the scenes
they battle fears and reinforce our dreams.
Take counsel from a humbled man, once proud;
they only enter lives when they're allowed.
