Nothing tastes quite like a
Freshly stolen apple from
Outside a very expensive house

After someone you're in love
With has just laughed into
The first bite of it,

Hands it to you
And whispers
*Thanks. Thief.

Take me to a still black lake
In a nowhere place.

Love, love...
Lay me in the sweet soft grass
And we will watch the moon.

We will watch as she dances
with the vast, dark depths,
We'll shiver at the ripples on the surface of the shine
And spill ourselves into the endless deep
Chasing her until we both
Can sleep
Can sleep
Can sleep.

You smile at me
Tired eyes that
May not really
Mean it

I'm a very little
Boy
You could slap me
To death

And
Not
Really mean
It

Umborough met me in a dream
She told me deep secrets
we gathered nuts together
while we walked under trees
Umborough then proceeded-
to ****** me with her beauty-
Her guile was unbelievable
she played her cards so skillfully

I woke before Umborough's spell was complete

“She's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like the honey, baby, from the bee
She's my baby, you know she's alright.....“

Van Morrison

old folk listen to old folk
and rock,
stung and sprung
from Pandora's box

someday
maybe,
you'll understand,
certain phrases,
from certain phases,
first tasted at a flavored oxygen bar
where youth drank,
worshipped and adored

and when those certain
word combinations reenter,
slipping in from unawares,
recalling easy the first time
you tasted with your ears,
Tupelo Honey

but what you remember is

that differentiating phrase

and
what you believed,
what you needed,
why you existed,
all because there was a new knowing
,
that
an angel of the first degree,
was out there waiting for you...
Tupelo Honey is the gold standard by which all other honeys are measured. For two weeks every spring, White (Ogeche) Tupelo Trees in the Southeastern swamps bloom with fine sunburst-shaped flowers that glisten with nectar.

expectations low-
another day aimed my way

- till the sky became
a color never named
and changed my world - again,

a new day.
