Reclaim the Rain
Dell Sep 2021
I've never minded the cold
pitter patter or puddles
or purple skies
with lightning reaching out
to touch the earth,
even for just a second

and neither did you.

you embraced it
the smell
the sight of streams and streaks
and sounds subtle drumming from above

and took it with you.

now every rumble shakes my very being
every strike forces me to draw back

not knowing if I fear mother nature
or the memories
or what I don't know
or what could have been

but I do know that with every storm
everything becomes real
and I get my feet wet
again and again
hoping I can, someday

reclaim the rain.
yeah

Wishes
Dell May 2019
The heat you can feel on your skin
From the ray of sunshine shining through the window
Warmth that fills you from the inside out
When you laugh so hard that you cry
Moments that you remember
That have lasted throughout the years
Smiles from strangers that
Force a smile upon your own face
Because these moments
Are what make a lifetime
They let you wake up in the morning
Give you motivation to live

Everything is too good to be true
I tell myself they're fake
These people are twisted and untrustable
Memories are unrecognizable
Why are you doing this?
I ask myself, but
I create new moments in my head
Of things that may not be real
But they give me hope
That one day they will no longer be lies
But my wonderful, real, beautiful life

Sailboats
Dell May 2019
A lone boat sets sail
Unknowing of what lies ahead
Or if it's journey will fail
But the sailors are not filled with dread
Because they are still innocent
And the sea is simply magnificent.

Blood
Dell Dec 2018
drip
drop
it trickles
it's cold
yet warming
I shouldn't like it
but I do.

red
like a pool of rubies
red like the deepest anger
the deepest regret
the deepest passion

you can feel the heat
of a thousand heartbeats
you feel alive

then all that's left is
numbness.
I'll leave you to assume.

Baby Blanket
Dell Dec 2018
People are changing as I stay the same
Leaving me behind as they grow.
I was only ever a game.
I've always known
That it was a matter of time
Before I became old.
They pulled and plucked at my
Heart strings
Until worn and broken.
They dirtied me for
Their own pleasure.
I was new and pure,
Now I'm used and nobody wants me.
Everyone has grown out of me.
Like an old baby blanket.
This is my first poem so Hello guys gals and non binary pals.
