March smart to the beat of the drums boys
March toward the sound of the guns
There's a battle yet to be fought boys
Before we can return to our homes
The dead now lie in rows boys
Cut down by the shot and the shell
But the enemy will turn and run boys
When they hear the rebel yell
Find the courage in your hearts boys
Although this day is lost
You fought and died so bravely boys
Was it really worth the cost?
So few of us are left boys
Sorely hurt, ravaged by pain
So many of us died boys
For what? For us there was no gain
Mothers, wives and sweethearts boys
In so many homes do grieve
They said we would be in for three months boys
Now so many will from here never leave

Rest In Peace boys
The Kraken

by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Below the thunders of the upper deep;
Far far beneath in the abysmal sea,
His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee
About his shadowy sides; above him swell
Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;
And far away into the sickly light,
From many a wondrous grot and secret cell
Unnumber'd and enormous polypi
Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green.
There hath he lain for ages, and will lie
Battening upon huge seaworms in his sleep,
Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
Then once by man and angels to be seen,
In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.

My mother is very wise
she teaches me her beliefs
even if most weren't exactly the societal "norm" that people were used to, being open to everything
thinking before I spoke
being respectful to name a few
though normal is a myth
nonexistent
because what's normal for a spider and chaos for a fly
There is no such thing as "normal"
Normal is a mythical word
No two people are alike, even twins have different personalities
technically normal shouldn't even exist
every societal clique has a different definition
which begs the question
what is normal?
To different people,
it means different things,
to people who listen to the rock genre screaming in music
along with the music is completely normal
To people who listen the the genre of pop music
they come across a song with
screaming in it they thing it's utterly disgusting and horrid
To people who listen to country music
they are not accustomed to rap music
talking about alcohol, ***, and drugs
As well as people who listen to rap, they would dislike country music.
Therefore, this makes normal nonexistent
Everyone has that certain thing about them
that would identify them easily.
hair, eye color, personality, etc.
So from now on, think of how you would use the word normal.

I dipped a woodlouse in the ink
I set it on the page
Watched it craft fine works of art
I was stunned, so amazed by the words that flowed
I's and oh's there in repose as that louse moved its feet
None here could write with such delight
Such a one word piece of art
And so I set a color pallete down
Watched it work throughout the night
Oh, oh such a glorious work evolved
Of color tint and hue
A work so crafted, so wonderful
That could be challenged by so few
And upon that work of wonder
A one word poem grew
And all this by a woodlouse
Using six legs instead of two
Such fine and pure art penned for the artless masses who dare to post their purile work here

Addiction
     never ends,
          temptation and sin.

Consumption,
     and then I’m lost.

Drowning,
     floundering,
          gasping for air.

Count the days
     until I feel alright again.

But my addiction
     betrays me
          and with one glance
               at a shard of glass
                    I relapse.
23 times—
a redemption to make up for
          time lost.
Something old I found in my journal.  Funny how feelings seem to go through a cycle...
