And the forest was silent again…

Splintering shadows creep slowly
across the overgrown footpath
frantic fingers slivering in sinister shapes

Slumbering moon beams cloaked,
abaft of a stately oaken veil,
a canopied thorn and branch woven tapestry

Wallowed whispers cling to cavernous winds
pushing chinaberry stalkers deep
under the cover of moss coated roots

When suddenly…

          Underbrush fantasies flourish
          behind vine wreathed curtains,
on fallen leaf stages of assorted colors

Foot light fireflies trim the edges
          in panoramic illuminations,
          flickering to tickle every fancy

Fairies perform pirouettes on tippy toes
Glistening wings flutter, shimmering to the
          melodic sounds of hedgehog harmonies

As bullfrog baritones and spider web sopranos,
sing the sweetest songs in the key of autumn
bringing smiles to all of the creatures in attendance

When suddenly…

Far away on the eastern horizon
the faintest specklings of amber appear
slipping through the densest drapes

A great horned owl yawns and blinks,
gazing eyes follow the turning head
as he surveys another day in his life

Sounds of scurrying, bristled brush
echo through now glowing limbs
signaling the end of the evening

And the forest is silent again…
Just a little whimsy on a Thursday

"Daddy,"* said Catharine as I tucked her
into bed, "will you tell me a tale?"
So I told her the story
of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
with Disney's ***** and Grumpy
thrown in for good measure;
and when I finished she pulled out
an apple from under her pillow
and she said I should eat it
I laughed and I did, and spent 7 days in hospital
And my doctor said I was lucky to have survived
the poisoned apple
Catharine won't tell us where she got it from

Today Catharine stands before me
and her stepmom
as we have dinner
And she places two pink cupcakes on the table
and she smiles, and she whispers:
*"Eat...that's from Hansel and Gretel"

They said the wolf
Beware
But in truth it was not he
All should fear
Misunderstood
Stigmatised
Tainted
His name was mud
Listen,
Observe,
Eavesdrop,
On the words that growl forth,
Three,
Little,
Pigs,
They seemed so succulent,
"Wait rephrase that"
Those bacon bandits,
"Wait misunderstood definition"
Those  pink porkers
A triangle of terror they were
To me,
A birthday wish for their mother you see,
Fur, but fur isn't cheap
So a thought??
)POPPED(
In to there salty minds
A wolf could make not
One
Not
Two
But one for each.
"Are you still listening"
They planned, snorted
Laughed with glee, my end planned
By all three it seems
The first
Flame was his weapon
Straw
Tightly bound
Ablaze in my face
A circle
Straw,
Match
Fire
I had no escape it would seem,
But as I was pushing behind
A trap cleverly conceived
But I was not defenceless,
I
Huffed
&
Puffed,
And with an exhale,
The flame
Did extinguish
Was blown out,
Embers lit up the sky,
As a pig now in my sights
"Gulp"
"GUlp"
"GULP
And smile upon my face
As I huffed and puffed
Inhaled
All that surrounded,
Inhaled,
Exhaled,
Everything out
Piggy was now floating in air
"One final inhale"
And piggy was hanging by his pinkies
Inside of  my wolfs mouth
"This little piggy was  naughty"
"This little piggy used his  mouth"
"One final piggy down the  hatch,"
I licked my lips and that was that.
I walked along now knowing their plan
And by a whisker
It just missed
Matrix style dodges
Ensued
Wooden spears
Shrieked past,
Out of the corner of my eye
"I saw him"
"A glint in his eye"
As Ten wooden spears
Launched,
Flight,
Shards,
Of stick rained down
"Was this my end"
?
?
I
Huffed
&
Puffed,
And these sticks paper cut
My nose then
In to the wind they flew
Have you heard a piggy
Squeal,
Scream,
Oink
All in one exhale its not pretty
As spears one and another
Encircled my porky Friend
His pink now white with fear encircled
"No way out"
"Pinkie"
He smiled I inhaled
And once again a piggy held on
To my snout
Eyes watering I  said
"This little piggy was  naughty"
"This little piggy used his  mouth"
"One final piggy down the  hatch,"
I licked my lips and that was that.
"I hope your listening"
I growled
It was him or me I would be
Fur upon a back
So used my senses
Sight,
Hearing,
Snout,
But he was no where to be found,
I looked for this bad bacon
High
&
low
So I went home to ponder
"Was it over"
I sat in my chair,
Then a brick through my
Window did appear
Come out and play
I scratched my head??
"Why not just knock the door"
As I went out side
A castle of brick and stone
At the bottom of my garden
"Impressive I say"
"Did I just say that out loud"
You may have eaten
One pig,
Two pig,
But you'll not get the desert,
I
Huffed
&
Puffed,
And down the phone I shouted
To the council of the land,
"Permits"
"Height"
"Private land"
And with that the castle came down
There is more than one way
To get a piggy off my land
As they left, the piggy snuck off too,
"Where are you going piggy"
"Unfinished business me and you"
It was them they made
Me do it,
Then a growl came forth
And two voices spoke
One little piggy
"It was his plan from the start"
Then a second piggy spoke out
"He set you up, as well as us"
The piggy startled
Voices echoed out
"Really"
I spoke
Yes my plan he snorted then laughed
"What you going to do"
I
Huffed
&
Puffed,
And blew my wind out
Have you ever seen a
Piglet role down a hill
The noise was like
Oink
OUCH
Oink
OUCH
And with that  I
Inhaled,
And the bruised and battered piggy held
On to my whiskers
Eyes watering,
Nose dripping out,
"This little piggy was  naughty"
"This little piggy used his  mouth"
"One final piggy down the  hatch,"
I licked my lips and that was that
"I hope your still listening"
My belly rumbled
It was what I had eaten
Not agreeing with me
I went to the
Jailhouse
Slammer
Lockup
For this is where
They were regurgitated,
And Spat out, these
Three
Little
Pigs
Would be doing
Twenty five
To
Life,
In a prison of jackals
These little pigs are going to have
A hard time sweating salt,
Fear in there eyes instead of mine,
"Are you Listening"
What you thought I'd eaten them??
I'm a vegetarian for goodness sake
I licked my lips but *
bacon does taste nice...

And that was all another story,
Now bed my little eggs
As A Hundred And One
Little eyes shut tight,
  Night,
Night,
Eggs Sleep
Eggs Grow
Eggs we love you so
So they slept
Morning Shimmered
Like a blanket lifted
A Hundred And One
Eyes awoke
"Mum"
"Mum"
Above Bubbles frothed
With each
POP
POP
POP
Was heard faint whispers
Of a
croak
ribbit
A Hundred And One times
If didn't lose count??
Mother out of breath
Hopping,
Jumping,
"What is it my many children"
All at once
A TAIL WE DO HAVE
My little ones, that was the story
"Of which I spoke"
But I guess
A Hundred And One
Were playing spot the egg
And not listening to what
RIBBIT mother said,
You wait till tomorrow
My young
Now go out and play,
So they rushed and played
Till the glow in the heavens sank down
Beneath the ponds gaze,
Now bed my little ones
Growing up so fast,
As a hundred a one
Little eyes shut tight,
  Night,
Night,
Tadpoles Sleep
Tadpoles Grow
Tadpoles we love you so
Morning broke not as before
The racket from above
They awoke
A Hundred And One
Ran with tail between there legs
MOM,
MOM,
MOM,
All were afraid of the unknown
"Children, children"
She softly ribbited spoke,
"It is but water"
From up high and then
Drips from the clouds,
To down Below,
"Fear not my young ones"
She spoke,
And the day was noisy
And a mess did they make
But to bed early they went
An early morning
You all must wake,
As a hundred a one
Little eyes shut tight,
  Night,
Night,
Frogs Sleep
Frogs Grow
Frogs we love you so
And It was Just reached
Dawn,
She softly spoke
Time to wake
Babies no more,
You are grown up
!!Its time to go!!
"Go where mother"
"To the world beyond the pond"
Life is ever moving
And so you must move on
Be brave my little
Ribbits,
&
Ribbets,
For your life is just a
Hop,
And a
Jump,
Away,
Find your damp patch,
My Hundred And one
And then make it your home..
For you are not children ribbet any more.

Do you believe in
                                 magic?
Do you still live a lie?
Is this your idea of a
                                     fairytale?
Do you believe in
                                you
                                        and
                                                 I?

Magic
                    carpets
                                   and
                                            pixies

                 Powerful
                                        lamps
                                                    and
                                                             pixie
                                                                         dust

            You're living a life of
                                                    imagination
And its you I'm supposed to trust?

I see no reason to hope
                                                                                             for a happy ending
                                                                                                   cause all I see is
                                                                           their looks
                                                                                              so
                                                                                                   condescending.

                                                 is it that hard
to really just know the truth
                                             and grow up a little
and stop living in your youth

its hard for me to make you
                                                     choose

but its me or
                        your dreams
would you rather have that
                                                  happy ending
and let this
                                       *fall apart at the seams?

Here is a tale of a dog and a cat
And a *** bellied pig, so pink and so fat
Of days in the garden alongside a farm
A whimsical story of magic and charm

The dog as he was of bushy descent
Yellow in color where ever he went
Digging a hole was his prime source of fun
As a matter of fact he had just finished one

The collar he wore was a leathery find
With studs made of silver so brightly it shined
His tail ever wagging, a happy old guy
He hung with is friends as the hours passed by

The cat on the other hand, sleek and so fine
A coat made of orange with stripes it combined
Cleaning a habit I see in all cats
But this one was special for it wore a hat

A tiny straw chapeau with fine feathered brim
A ribbon of pink that was wrapped round her chin
Though not really sure if a cat finds the style
But more as I looked I would bet that she smiled

And there to her left with a snort and a grunt
Was a portly built fellow the legs of a runt
Fine wispy hair that did cover the skin
With a gather of long ones that hung from his chin

Puffing along an attempt to keep pace
The dog and the cat and the pig they would race
Faster and faster they’d run through the fields
Though what was the secret of friendship revealed

None were the same as they differed and so
Still bound together a’ running they’d go
Never before as I think about that
Has a dog or a pig ever friended a cat

For ever so prissy, no memories jog
A cat who was friends with a pig and a dog
Though still I could see right abreast of my eyes
These three companions did bring the surprise

What is the moral of all that I see?
It sure does not matter of your company
Whether a dog or a pig or a cat
You can make friends with whomever you chat

People are different in color and race
But everyone seems to be wearing a face
A face that can smile, a face that can cry
A face that can hello or even good bye

If only we look at each other the same
Will we find fortune in learning their name
No matter the differences that we might see
It pays for each of us to every time be

Nice to each other and all things like that
Just like the dog and the pig and the cat

I dreamt in black and white
The horrors of old
Haunting my every moment
"Frankenstein"
8 foot tall
Hands bigger than my head
His footsteps
The earth trebles
Lunging forward
He grabs me
Speaks,
Would you like to join my
"Sewing group"
I scream in horror,
AAaaaahhhhh,
Hours past a blur
Cross stitch,
Arrowhead stitch,
Backstitch,
They all must be learnt
He speaks
"Who do you think mends my stiches"
"When they come loose"
His logic, I haven't a witty comeback
He lets me walk off
As I walk in to the woods,
I come to a crossroads,
Left path
ETERNAL DOOM,
8 miles
Right Path
FREEDOMS ESCAPE,
3 miles
Mmmm
Right path I think ill take
Alone I walk,
Hearing my beating heart
Then I hear a howl
AAaawwwww,
I turn slowly, heart racing
I swallow it back down
A hairy beast
Wolf Man,
His teeth shine in the moon light
Fangs,
Claws,
Hair,
He growls,
I faint, when I  came around
He speaks perfect English
"Brush in your hand"
"I cant get the back "
Do you know how hard it is to make
This coat so shiny and clean
I hit knots unseen ,
He
Snarls,
Growls,
Claws,
Sink into the ground
I "Gulp"
So loud it echo's into the woods
Hours pass when will this horror end
Eat me now I think in my head
And then a shimmering coat is seen
"Thank you"
Many run when they see me
"You stayed"
"Helped"
An animal man in need of help,
He guilds me safely
Now out of the howling woods
AAaawwwww
I hear in the background
Teeth smiling
In to the woods he returns,
I walk on my way
Taking in the sights
Then as sign I see
HOTEL TRANS VACTION
I think what could go wrong
I see a white haired lady
Sitting in a rocking chair
Knife in hand
She laughs as she
Plunges,
Gouges,
Slices,
And then I see a cake ,
Red juices pour out
As she licks the juices from the knife
I pail man speaks
"How do you do"
"I am Drac-Ula"
That Name rings a bell
"I get that all the time"
Would you like your bags
Taken to your
Drank blood red room
"Say what"
Its a themed hotel sir
Did you not read the sign
Mmwhaaaaaa
As I go in to the bar
What are the special's sir
****** Mary,
******-tini
&
Devils Handshake
I'll have the
Handshake please
Sign here please
......................................
?????
Ok I think
Wow that blew my soul away
With but one sip,
"Can I have another please"
Sorry sir bars closed,
"Only one soul per drink"
I go off to my bed, to rest my head
I awake with a startle
To see Drac-Ula
Floating in the air
I shake my head
Rub my sleepy eyes
Opened wide, was I still in a dream
"Hello sir"
A Bloodwiser  Night-cap
"Thanks I said"
What friendly people on this trip
As I drifted off to slumber
It felt like an eternal sleep
I awoke as my alarm went off
08:00AM
It said, was that all a dream??
My neck was really stiff,
Must have slept funny
I put on my trousers
Riiiiipppp,
Dam I haven't got time for this
Where's that sewing kit
10 minutes later
There that's done,
"Darling"
I hear the wife is  awake
I take up a coffee
"Morning dear"
You coldnt do me a favour
Help with my hair
So I
Brush
Curl,
Style
There you go my dear,
Open mouthed,
I put my finger underneath her chin,
You'll catch flies if you left it open an more,
I walk out the door
Off to work,
Ouch the suns really hurting my eyes,
That was one really strange dream I had...

The Frog was doing his thing
Hopping,
Croaking,
Splashing,
In to any water that he could see,
He happened upon
This Jigsaw of black and white
Morning sir, he croaked
The Cow looked down,
"MOOOOO"
Pardon I didn't quite get that,
"MOOOOVE"
Your on the tastiest grass
Below your webbed feet,
"Sorry sir,"
Didn't wish to stomp on your
Lunch with my feet,
So he hoped along, as Frogs do
Then turned around,
Hopped his best, speed built up
Leaping with all his might,
Over the Cow,
Then gracefully on to his feet,
"Cow turned"
Whhhat are you doing little thing,
As the Frog
Replied, I was seeing if I could
Jump over you
Why?
Would you do such a thing,
Well mum told me
A Cow jumped over the moon,
Yes we do
Replied Cow
Famously Are we for doing this,
Feat never seen.
"Frog replied"
Riibit, well I just jumped over you
So now I an the best jumper it seems,
Confused,
Thinking,
Laughing,*
Out loud with a MMOOooo
You aren't a better jumper than me,
We will see little Frog said
With that he did a
Bounce,
Hop,
Jumped,
Over the Cow once again it seemed,
Now it is your turn
As Cow looked on nervously
So he hooved his feet
1,
2,
3,
With that he tried
"FAILED"
Lost his balance,
And in to another's Cow pat
His face did meet.
Now the cow was not only
Black
&
White
But now he was
Covered,
&
Smelled,
Like poo, embarrassed
Was he
The Frog did laugh
Ribit, Ribit, Ribit,
Loud and clear,
Cow looked at frog,
Now Cow do you see,
Never believe what you hear,
Until you see it with your own eyes,
This is what my mother read to me,
And with that, Frog bounced off happily.

They arose from the grave
Some not in tune
Giving a fist,
Then a finger,
And went back to eternal slumber.
Others were after it
They needed to feel it,
Beat,
Rhythm,
Life,
They craved it from the grave
Arise,
Arise,
Search, those who crave the beat
To bring you life,
They roamed
A few slower, as they'd  lost there feet,
But they would crawl on
Stomach,
Hands,
Knees,
To feel the beat of life within,
They glared in the air
It was unmistakable,
The beat of life.
As they entered
Screams,
Horror,
Curiosity,
As the dead meant no harm,
They stood in formation
This isn't no thriller,
This is the life they heard from afar.
Beats of music,
They danced in unison
The crowd went wild
Music,
Beat,
Rhythm,
Life,
They were dancing
The night away,
A few screams did follow,
As moves not meant for the dead
Limbs flew far in to the crowd
Politely
Handed,
Footed,
Fingered
Back once again,
But time was not on there side
Time was beating past,
So a grunt,
A lipless smile,
And they made there way back
They had for one night felt the
Beat
Rhythm,
Life,
Of the party
Its funny how a full moon
Can awaken feeling even in the dead..
