Through the colors of dusk, you enticed me
Wide-eyed and inquisitive
Laughing in modesty,
Yet filled with desire
Fast friends in honest notions
Too close too quickly, perhaps
Yet so similar in design
Too tight a fit
Too much to handle
Bonded passion through darkest night
The colors of dawn bid the possibilities adieu

Enter me, now know the mind inside.
And as you do, so I, in turn, know you.

Reality will never touch us,
Those thoughts are swords for me to swallow,
I will never sharpen them again.

Come into my heart.
There is no-one there,
I saved that space for you.

Live within my dreams, make them yours, ours,
Make a world, build it and then enter,

Live within me, love the mind inside.

Tears serve a purpose.
Preserve your water.
There will be days so dry
You'll cry vapour.

Tears serve a purpose.
Put pressure on your heart
Until the bleeding stops.
Get up and dance along.

Baby steps in the right direction.
All you know of this place is
It's between horizons.
Why so sad, little one?

Tears serve a purpose.
They're yesterdays leaving
The present. Blurring your vision
When looking back.

That's not where you're heading.
Come. There's more this way.
You'll smile. You'll laugh until
You cry.

Until your tears serve their purpose.

we will .....go.... to the woods
...soon... up on
..the mountains fringe...
that is ....where.... nature....
has placed.... it's great ..............demarcation line......
                                  where ...........the rat race ...ceases.......
          ...to exsist.....
                                   where......
the quiet just.... eases ..into your soul...

and ......
              your soul changes

first.... with momentary bliss
as.......you turn off.......
.... the technology
but... then you.... want....
                more
and... so you.... slow your step ... ....watch the wind.... in the trees
the birds.... over head,
...lizards ...in ...the leaf litter..
...undergrowth                                  a lady beetle ...bright jewel ...on your coatsleeve....
                       .......and that is when
..you sigh....
.......and truly let it go...
let it all drop... let it all behind
and.....
              i see my love
                          ........the world
.....roll off your shoulders
here ....in the woods...
....among the trees...

I Played cards with death,
He asked me to pick,
Pick what I said?
A card it shall teach you of life
I picked
One,
Then two,
Lastly three,
Have you picked wisely
Death aske me,
King
Queen,
Then the joker made three.
Who will live the longest?
Death pointed his ***** fingers,
I looked, thought who would it be,
I said the king or queen would be last
Death cold stare looked at me.
The king when visited
Did try to buy his life from death,
Death doesn't need gold you see
But I gave the king a coin
For the ferryman to take his soul.
I said the queen would be my second guess,
But again he looked coldly upon me,
She asked me to be her king
But I whispered I am the god of death
to be a king would be no use me.
She was taken again no use of gold
But I once again gave a coin .
It couldn't be the jester?
A creepy smile feel upon his face,
Death said, what is life with out laughter
I came for him, he made me laugh
He did an impression,
He impersonated me,
I laughed out loud,
I hadn't done that in
A million years.
So I told  keep others laughing
I will give you and those extra years
But like all I will come for thee,
So the tale was told.
Laughter is a way to keep life going
But everyone will be visited,
King,
Queen,
Jester
You and me*
*Just keep laughing it will add on years to your life.

In the folds of the hills
and hollows
of my mind,
I remember a time
when you were free.
You were of the sweetest color
known to me.

No man could catch you;
I'm not even sure we tried.
It was such a sight
just to watch you
spread your wings.

Like a bird
you could fly
circles so high,
blue as the sky,
and free as the wind.

I knew someday
you would leave,
fly away,
no longer free;
my mountain bird
on a breeze.

This morning's glory warms my heart,
words carried in on strangers' tides
have brought about an easy smile
and planted seed in barren mind.

These words they linger oft unseen
between the love and broken things
this poet's world a rushing tide,
a surge of flight to tarnished wings.

I'll light another cigarette
for no-ones keeping score
and pray that ink will always bleed
the words of Nevermore.
I love all poetry posted here, my mornings spent with all your wonderful words. Nevermore is a favourite of mine, in my eyes one of the best we have. This is my way of giving thanks for the gifts he bestows.

After the smoke clears
I survey the damage.

Or rather the lack
Thereof.

My eyes have grown.
My mouth narrowed.

I'm all ears; all hands
Unclenched.

I've learned to appreciate
A hug from my father,

Felt just how well
My mother knows my pain

Without a single drop of hint.
Silence. Ah, the silence.

To do what-, when-, however I want.
The freedom of a King Size alone.

My God, the things I gained
In the fire.
