From the very first time
I felt that flutter in my belly move
I knew the best gift of life
and that gift was you
My son
My gift from God
You are my happy place
Nothing brights up my day more
than when I see your smiling face
I will do my best to teach you
and raise you right
Always say please and thank you
Know what battles to fight
Do not worry about love, son
You will find the right woman
When you have become the right man
Don't take for granted this life
that god has given you
Treat people the way
you want to be treated
and always see things through
We are not promised tomorrow
So live it well and seize the day
and ride the sun the entire way

She was never one for
close contact
A hug
was just not something
to give away easily

We grew up together
for the past 16 years
I've been near her through
tears of a fallen friend
The end of high school
and meaningless adventures

We've always said goodbye
A simple wave
with a goofy grin
Till the day my time there
came to an end

I moved away
far away
to a place she couldn't reach
And the last time I saw her she
offered me a comforting hug

As if I was going to
the trenches of a great war
It was strange
It was odd
It felt like no hug I felt
before

It was real
It was powerful
I never wanted to both
feel and not feel
a hug like that again

She was my secret crush
She would always be my
friend

Separation
That appears to be part and parcel with this human incarnation
My ego cuts ME off with no oxygen
I? Flail and wail like a child whose lost his mother
A fish in a world meant for another species entirely
I dissolve, evolve and transcend my shape to embrace
Not only you but the I in you and the you in me and the never-ending connectivity of human consciousness.
Awaken and its as if I've fallen into a nightmare, a terror so vivid
More real than reality.
Alas it is reality and I am awake and dead
And so are you.
Though still alive, ironically in loss of a body
I feel my connection, my mother, my father, my familia in the plants.
With the animals.
With the humans and their complex struggle
Divided always , but entirely one within themselves
Union
The world at large
When disengaged from ego, re-engaged with the World Soul
The loving awareness that you really are
Always was and will always be
Forever and ever
Completely not reliant on any outside forces.
In the sense of the verb as well as the noun.
I AM LOVING AWARENESS.
When disengaged from ego, re-engaged with the World Soul.

The world is ending
said the man
at the register
the signs are clear
Armageddon is nigh.

the wind turns my apple tree
into a victim, a lover banging
on a closed door of gnarled wood

a dance makes this ringing evening
singular, the leaves agree to fall
in the dull faith of  moving air,

they tell us about birth and departure,
about leaving together, about  stories
of ending as the sun arcs and protests

The gift of life
  The curse of life
   The bitterness
    The jealousy
     The heartbreak
The pain of love
  The thrill of love
   Pursuing the impossible
    A conquered heart
What cuts us to our core...

The greatest gift of life is our loneliness, our pain.
The things that make us vulnerable to love from one another.
To have a shattered heart be held by a friend, as you confess to being violated.

Cut my heart in two with this hope.
Shiver my spine with this fear;
That I will suffer loneliness all my days,
That not a single day will I ever be alone.
Set me off on the river in my casket,
When I am gone with the flowers passing.
I'm waiting for the fall, for the gift of life...

I tell you again: the greatest gift of life is our loneliness, our pain. The things that make us vulnerable to love from one another.
A bit more abstract than I intended it to be... hope everyone likes it.
