I go back
Like the tide being pulled by the moon

I go back
Like the rewind button on an 80's tune

I go back
Like reading a twisted plot again to be sure

I go back
Like an addict quitting "for good"

I go back
Like a mother losing a child with no time

I go back
Like a heartbeat being revived

I go back
Like the hand of an abuser before the strike

I go back
Like there's still time left in the fight

I go back
Like some fathers' go back to the bar

I go back
And I stare...
I just stare into the dark

The sunshine beats down
******* your
Rough skin
You told yourself
To give up
Blood and sin

Down you said
You'd try to ****
The pain
After all the times you said
You'd find
Your way

Times like these
They never seem
To stick
Wash off all the tears
You tried so hard
To flick

You never thought
You'd ever be
This sick
What'll you say now
When the strings are cut
Too quick

After all there's
Nothing else left
To be said
Let the water rush
Over your sunken
Chest

We eat soup with a knife.
We cut steak with a spoon;
The sun shines at night;
The stars come out at noon.

The earth has too few people.
Sugar makes you strong.
Giraffes have short necks;
Elephants' necks are long.

Glaciers are not melting;
Earth is growing cooler.
Thirteen inches make
A simple foot-long ruler.

Don't look at me
As though I'm totally cracked.
Each of the above
Is an alternative fact.

I envy my dog
Because it seems that she's the
Only one in here
Who isn't affected by
Current politics
When you're dad works in the Coast Guard, your mom's in PBS, your godmother works on grant funds from the EPA, half of your friends are either LGBTQ, muslim, or POC, and you're doing a major project revolving around environmentalism, it seems that the only one who doesn't feel threatened is the family dog.

You made it clear
               with so few words
That it really didn't matter
Anyway.
Just words and nothing
more.
No more expectation.
No more truth
unpurchased. No deadly potential.
Nothing more than
       the weight of dreams.

I
Can understand
Why
You
Chose to be alone.
It's
A Bewildering world
Out
There.
People
Can be so unfair,
Interfere.

Give me a cave in a mountain
Let
Me live there.
NATURE
Would be kinder
Than humankind.
The rain and snow
Wind and cold
Would chill my bones,
****
Me.

My
Life
Is in the
CREATOR'S
Hands.

my love is like fire

      but baby burn
Current day.

I live in a country that claims we are equal.

Perhaps the largest of all the lies

Destroying lives
If even to only gain a penny
Individual gains at the sacrifice of many

I remember hearing stories of something called kindness once long ago
Although the importance is vague
And quickly fading

Flash forward.

What were once green meadows, now filled with trash.
Newspapers providing the storyline leading up to this bleak ending.

I keep my child close .
I shift her mask closer to her face.

I tell her of times I would run free through these same meadows

She nods, but I can tell she can’t even begin to imagine what I am describing.

The end.
