Reckless cloudbursts
rippling reverberations-
Her harmonic ensemble
hits a deafening crescendo:
taunts my senses, paralysed;
haunts my spirit, petrified.
Destructive forces of tides and winds orchestrated by nature's fury.

beth fwoah dream
a moon-song
soft and delicate

a summer pond
and a thirsty flame

my jealousy of you
flowing like wine

the weeping stars
melting in the sea

a stormy night
sweeping out, sweeping out...

a kiss in the dark
as if the night blossomed

the pouring of a water jug,
the scattering of the dark...

And when I wake up,
with the crisp sunlight shining through the shades,
casting horizontal shadows on my cheek,
My heart throbs with hatred
That I survived through the night.
For my love of life is growing bleak.
Wrote this poem about  two years ago when we were just discovering my problems with depression and anxiety.
Don't particularly like the writing, but I love reading this to see how far I've come since then.

"If some people like your painting, fine.
If some don't, well, there's the door.

Take your work seriously
But don't take yourself seriously

Paint for yourself
Enjoy yourself"

I was watching a show on PBS today
"The Beauty of Oil Painting" with Gary & Kathwren Jenkins

Gary said this and I marveled at how much this echoed the attitude we should cultivate when writing poetry.
I think we could also consider writing poetry as a painting of sorts
