~
It should be stark
and unprovoked,
yet fight to conceal.

It should justify
its intrusion
by layering
new narratives:
each a wonderland,
each a poison.

It should spring
like a cat,
cloud like doubt,
evaporate like
cigarettes at dawn.

It should backlight
truth, fictionalize
history.

It should undo
reality, drift into abyss
with the Lady of Shalott.

It should lead
the march into the sea,
it should die gracefully.

I feel the procession has slowed
almost to a crawl eerily
as if to delay the inevitable show
while some dance merrily

the final stops' been dug six feet
everyone gathered 'round
with no one left for us to meet
accept the cold hard ground

Clearing out
Some old stuff,
Came across
An old
Cardboard box

My name on a
Grain of rice,
"For you, special price"

Packet of apple tea
Unopened,
Date long gone
I see

A pirate cassette
Dark side of the moon,
Great gig in the sky
"Now that was a tune"

A snapped
Friendship band,
From someone
I
No longer
See,
Holding it,
Wondering
Are they thinking of
Me?

These are interesting times,
forced in-doors, distraction-free;
distilling all the fear-mongering themes,
naked and bare, illusions fall, truth is what's seen?

All the chasing’s fruitlessness revealed,
we are but flesh and bone,
could this be blessing bestowed?
Distortions, disillusions, dangers healed; all soul secrets are known?
Going back over old poems that I've written but not posted...

Be grateful to have another day
Make it the very best it can be
Tomorrow may never come and it is not promised
Reach deep down and enjoy what others come to expect
Expect nothing and accept the challenge to do the very best you can
As you rIse
