Perhaps I prefer to play the ghost
To only be seen by the ones
I love the most
To limit the stress
Of life’s bumpy roads
I won’t let bad take its toll.

(But that’s not how I use to roll)

Life’s beauty fulfills my quest
A peaceful life is my success
There is no sense in worrying
Simply stay out from under the gun
If there’s nothing chasing us
There’s no need to run.

Empty
packages.
Life’s
lessons
arrive
like a
package
at the
door.
Different
shapes,
colors,
sizes.
Each
unique.
Each
with
something
inside,
to teach.
Once
opened.
The lesson’s
absorbed,
learned.
Becomes
part of
the whole.
Morphs the
recipient
into
someone
new.
Package
after
package
the character’s
formed.
Good,
bad.
All the
same.
Lesson’s
gleaned.
Empty
packages,
toss them
away.
Lesson’s
absorbed.
Recipient
altered.
No need
dwelling
on the
past.
Move
forward
wiser for
the delivery.

Can we live beside Evil,
Can't we just get along?
Can't we turn it a little
Using Music and Song?

Must we face it and name it,
Call it wrong to its face?
Must we risk our own comfort?
Can't we stay in our place?
Mid-night Meditations
Go along to get along?

It must be dark
out here in the cold penumbra,
where mile after mile
no one smiles,

dots and loops,
dots and loops,
a kind of blissful nullity,
beautiful and pointless,

wearing at the edges
it almost stings,
seclusion unraveling
at the underground in us all,

aubade aberrations abound,
challenging the orthodoxy
of the troublesome
morning road,

but should this near-life experience
hydroplane toward
another mineshaft, it helps to know
less is less, not more.

                                      While Clenching Their Fisties

Old men do not now argue politics
At the coffee table in the grocery store
Old men, like some university students
Simply say what they are ordered to say

By voices bellowing from Orwellian telescreens

While clenching their Trumpy-grumpy fisties

And one must have patience
Let it sit for years
