Tasting his lips,
              distinct like sour milk.
She tasted his undeserved
aroma of ill fated discretion.

Never trust one
who tastes like
              wilted moments,
only those of fresh blossomed intentions.

Capture me the sun
and I’ll worship you by day

Lasso me the moon
and I’ll turn the tide

Irrigate me an ocean
and I’ll drink to a stupor

Promise me time
and the seconds I’ll bide
So jump and never underestimate a ruined year

i made you
a sandwich; it's
in the icebox.

i was worried
you'd get hungry.

i remembered
to put your
favorite
things in it,
so please
eat it.
inspired by the poem of the same name by William Carlos Williams.

don't let it go bad, please

Come as the silence of night,
to soothe waylaid hearts.

Let them hear...
The rhythm of
their own pounding.

Cradle them...
And carry them
through every deep breath...
And every heavy sigh.

Assure them that the lull
between such forlorn beats
will never be prolonged
as long as there is a want,
and need
to hear and feel the next.

I had a deep conversation today
I had a deep conversation today in a hot tub
The steam muffled my voice a bit
But my voice still bounced off the wooden walls
My voice cracked and choked but not because of the chlorine mist
My eyes began too fill with tears hotter than the water I sat floating in
I asked out loud I’m not crazy right?
No my voice quivered in response
I was glad there was no one else in the room to hear it too.
At least I’m a good listener

Hard Fall

Falling...

That’s the easy part.
It’s beyond your control really.
Like a mat being pulled from under you.
Or tripping over something as obscure as a centimetre rise on the pavement.

And as you fall, you can’t deny the excitement and exhilaration as your heart quickens.
Adrenalin courses through your system in a feeble attempt to heighten your reflexes and realign your senses...

Just so you could perhaps stop yourself from getting hurt.

But you also know that you can’t fight the laws of physics and the fact that you’re not a cat.
So you can’t help but submit fully to that moment of defeat.

Now you’ve slammed into the ground.
Tasted dirt...
And rubbed faces, knees and elbows with the harshness of the earth.

If you do get up,
would you be ever so careless again?

I’d watch where I was going if I were you.

Stranded

Nursing a head full of questions.
Things left voiceless and unsaid.
Thoughts running errant,
and cracked promises half made.

In my already bloated baggage,
I take in an extra load.
A tourist in a familiar place
stranded by the side of the road.

Should’ve noticed the clues...
Should’ve read the signs along the way...

Now I stand in the middle to nowhere,
reliving yesterday, today.
