Feed the flame
lead don’t follow
show the way
be the candle
that single burning spark
shine a light
into someone else's darkness
and illuminate your own
I strongly suggest that you put on a vest
and maybe some pants
nobody wants to see
what is dangling from your people tree
I think it would be best
if you got yourself dressed
it's a sensible request
before your arrest!
I wrote this in response to a horrible prompt word

Capture me
with your voice
let it to my ears
instil a thrill
let it wash my soul
with its timbre
let its strength
calm my fears
in its tone I hear
all that a voice could
ever contain
the sun’s warmth
the soul’s wash
of the gentle rain
capture me with your voice
hold me
enthrall me, captivate me
thrill me now
A faceless crowd,
With madness abound,
To gather strength,
And pull you down

A faceless man,
With wicked hands,
Will hold a candle,
And make last stands

A broken law,
Will hem and haw,
Locked in the cellar,
The last you saw

An ugly thought,
That time forgot,
Will bleed it's ink,
To skin that's sought

A cheery smile,
After life's hard mile,
Would stick much finer,
Than your witch trials

A heart that's gray,
Still beats the same,
But one that's nurtured,
Loves more each day
A small six stanza basic rhyme poem meant to remind us of the viral nature of our actions.  We, like oil tankers, will sometimes bleed into the sea.  Perhaps a petroleum covered seal is not the best end to our emotional flow.  Or as the band, Modest Mouse once said, "You were spitting venom at most everyone you know."  Lets aim for something sweeter.
I will sit and spin
And let the madness in
Till the sailor
Finally weary of the sea
Returns with tin souvenirs
And a claim to me

[Ha]te + Lo[ve] = Have

love & hate
are the fruits
of what we sow
like plants
they grow
from the same
seeds
some blossom
whereas
some become
weeds
it's not simply nature
but what we nurture
and
at the end
both are emotions
so strong
that
they prolong
year after year
all life long
hate to love
love to hate

i once had a bowl of
alphabet soup that
cussed me out

moody soup i suppose,
maybe too much salt

it only took all of three stirs
to resume composure

nevertheless i have favored
literally innocuous
types of soup ever since

not so much from me
being onion-skinned,
but simply for the fact—

i would prefer to eat
as opposed to
entertaining such
potentially disturbing
conversations
over the dinner table...

my heart in the blender
fingers burned
lesson learned!
