I close my eyes and see it
my bed, my joint, my desk
my dream can't it come true even a bit?
is it so difficult I ask?

Just a hint and I would have learnt
there wouldn't have been the need for that
it tore me up and left me burnt,
with no place left for me to fall apart

It had happened before, but not like this
which left me into tiny bits
I’m still looking for her,
she'll pull me out of the pit.

I'm trying to make things all right
jumping through big and small hoops
who will support me during this fight?
now, I’m stuck in a big loop.

My reflection refuses to be mine
it refuses and becomes blind
"where is that child who's lost in time?"
it asks searching my mind.

I found her alas, hidden inside me,
she once lost and retrieved so deep within
it took her a while to decide to be or not to be
She's now trying to live her life given.

She apologizes, she’s sorry for it
but she still can’t bring me back the time I’ve lost
No matter what she does I'll still be in bits
I’m no Supergirl to forgive and have a blast.

One chance is all she asks,
I'll give it to her we both need it.
We've made mistakes in various tasks,
And we both know now how to do it.

I close my eyes and see it,
my bed, my joint, my desk
I ask her and with our faces lit
we march together to conquer the rest.

Stony walls that saw centuries turn into a millennia,
Now stand as silent witnesses to deaths, leaving it's citizens praying for a Messiah.

The world has nowhere to run or hide and only hopes for the love of the Lord,
Spirited Humans under house arrest are subjected to a silence that is just far too loud.

A magnificent empire that stood upon its ground once,
Lies shaken as it's soul is ripped with all the menace.

Trapped souls within four walls of a house are drowning in a lake of despair,
I know you are sad and disappointed for all the ill that's come in your once happy lair.

But Don't give up just yet I say, Hold on a little longer for this too shall pass and you shall soon have your sunny days.
Days when you are no longer caged, You'll be free and like before, will shine like the sun's rays.
I wrote this in May when the pandemic started wreaking havoc on our lives. This was an attempt at bringing a ray of hope in all our lives today. As we witness a drastic chamge in our lives.

Maybe fate is predetermined,
Maybe destiny is far too liberated.
Maybe we choose our fate as given,
Or maybe we just choose the steps we take.

Maybe some dreams are hard to chase,
Maybe feelings are hard to fake.
Maybe we are standing at a fork today,
Maybe it's on this path that our dreams like shooting stars will just fall away.

Take a deep breath as you walk through the doors,
It’s the morning of your very first day as you enter your second innings.
We are lost in reminiscences of those days filled with adventures in the moors,
Memories bring back more memories as we now cherish all your winnings.

8+ years old you were when to Sanawar’ you went away,
The place gave you memories that you can narrate all day.
It’s time for you to rest your mind and brush the cobwebs away,
As I take you back in time which may now seem like eons away.

At 17+ you went rolling into NDA,
For you knew it was here that your passion lay.
Friends for life you made who would change your life thereon,
Your animated stories and anecdotes were those to which people were drawn.

An epitome of serenity, whose legacy will live on,
Pleasant, calm, patient and loving all the qualities that you adorn.
We are lucky to have your blood run in our veins,
For it gives us the strength to climb life’s rocky terrains.

You are the Phantom in the good and bad times,
You gave us everything and taught us to control life’s reins.
You believed in all three of us and encouraged us to fly,
You make me want to be better and encourage me to try

You were the shield that kept all storms at bay,
Fights that ensued among the female trio.
You resolved them better than Sherlock and Poirot,
You make us come together every single day.

You wear your scars with pride and courage,
And give us a place to let out our secrets and umbrage.
I’ll always be proud of having you as my father,
For there is no one else as brave, giving and stronger.

You are the bravest man I know,
You’ve overcome hurdles all of which have made you grow.
You are my father I can proudly say,
To anyone and everyone all day.

You were the ray of light during our darkest times,
You taught us to overcome hurdles and face life’s climbs.

I met you many years ago,
You held my hand and helped me stay afloat.
All the trials and tribulations that would throw,
You encouraged me to Never Give In and face them, for they'd help me grow.

You make my life beautiful and purposeful,
You encouraged me to dream once again.
You taught me right from wrong,
And struck the chords to tune my life like the right song.

Forever may not last in a pragmatic sense,
But it’ll last for my love which is so very dense.
I’m glad you are mine to be called,
For this bond shall never be broken or overhauled.

You are our midnight sun,
And you always encouraged me to be someone.
Our father is a hero and who wears a uniform,
He with his medallion is someone you cannot outperform.
My father recently retired from the Indian Army. This was meant to be an ode to him.
For your reference-  Sanawar is a boarding school in north India and NDA is the Military Academy.
