Swim with the fish
Dive under the sea
Run through the forest
Happy as can be

What a wonderful world this is
Living things abound
Plants, things, and animals
In nature they surround

Those things,
Dirt, rocks, snow
Just because they're not alive
Doesn't mean they aren't significant

Creatures small as an ant
Large as a whale
Furry as a dog
Feathery as a quail

These animals are everywhere
No matter where you look
As you see one creature
Another is worth a look.

Why do I exist?
Sometimes I ponder this
As I stress, about grades,
About everything.
Sometimes, though,
I know
that I'm really meant to be
and satisfaction overtakes stress.
As I write this poem, I know I belong
In this world, in my place in life.

Hi. My name is Otto.
Look! A squirrel.
I should chase it,
Too bad I'm inside a fence.
I'm hungry. When's dinner?
Yay! We're getting in the car!
Are we going to the park?
Wait! Don't leave me!
Why're you closing the door?
I want to come! Let me out!
Noooo they're driving away
I'm all alone. for 5 minutes
YES! They're finally home!
After what feels like 50 hours!
It took you long enough.

As I sit at the table
Seemingly unable

To figure out this math
As I make myself a path

In this work-intensive
Price expensive

World.

Another person
Striving for perfection
The only problem
Is that perfection is impossible
That's why this poem doesn't rhyme.

On a calm, quiet day as I stand at the sill,
Watching as children run about at will
Suddenly I feel a shaking of the ground,
And I watch as people run all around.

I hurry to my mother as I say,
“We need to get out! Come, this way!”
I lead her to the street, and I hear people shout,
As chunks of fire fall all about.

I look at the mountain, Vesuvius, and see,
The mountain’s blown its top, it’s plain to me.
With pumice falling from the sky, I say,
“We need to leave! The houses aren’t safe, come away!”

The neighbor’s house is leveled by another blast,
As its owners stand there aghast.
I grab them by the arm,
And they stare at me in alarm

“My friends,” I bellow, and they stare,
                                    As ash is falling everywhere.
“Run! Grab a pillow, cover your head,
Get out of the town or else you’ll be dead!”

As I dash across town,
I feel a shaking of the ground
The boarding house collapses as the earth quakes,
And I shout, “Run! That’s isn’t no great shakes!”

I hold my mother tight as we run out through the gate,
Thinking we’ll be lucky if we escape
The terrible volcano that’s claiming Pompeii,
But we must run, there’s no other way.

We run across the river, and we see
We’ve escaped the volcano, but suddenly,
Hot gases sweep over us, and I gag,
As a nearby man retches on a rag.

We dash into the river, and wait out the fumes,
As they sweep over the flower blooms.
That’s all I remember; that’s all I can say
As to what truly happened that day.

There's nothing to do.
There. I said it.
At least finally someone did.
The house is empty.
The books have all been read.
The games have all been played.
Now I'm so bored I'm gonna end up dead.
Like, all I have to do is write [crap] poems.
It's so exciting!
Don't you agree?

Ticking away
Running out
I only have so long
I must get it done.
What will I do
I really have no clue
When my time
Finally
     Runs
         Out
