over a long time
the Empire put much money
into war campaigns
as a consequence of this
didst bleed its coffers bone dry

I tried to touch the stars last night
So i took a chair and turned off the light

I reached higher than I ever tried
I saw them already, so beautiful, I even cried

But I lost balance and the chair fell
The light went on, and I was back in my cell

It's perfectly fine designing
poems, not knowing where to go in
terms of content.
I've spent minutes hellbent on it's
problem, so solemn at the fallen
words on the line.
But the worst crime is finding I'm
frequently intent on a segment
that mirrors the open.
Messing around with structure trying to use only a few rhymes. Not sure, feels weird.
The best, moment,
  in this "Old" man's
     life, it's True.
When, I took your
     hand in mine,
        and said,
            "I DO"
     Happy "52"
        Love You!
When did your ventricles stop pushing me through?

And why can’t your atriums hold me now too?

No more are the days my presence rests in your veins,

Your arteries don’t even remember my name.

No trace of me in capillary lines,

Their refill’s normal- your pulse
perfectly fine.

A love so strong it once gave you life,

But it seems you’ve bled me out to survive.
Whether you're sepsis or oxygen-
I don't know,
But i can't get you out of my system
Soft whispers of dawn, a gentle, new day,
Sunlight unfolds in a hesitant way.
The world slowly stirs from its slumber deep,
Secrets of night that the shadows keep.

---

Birds in the branches begin their sweet song,
A melody shared, where they all belong.
Dew on the grass, a diamond-strewn sight,
Reflecting the sky in the morning light.

---

A breeze through the leaves, a soft, guiding hand,
Waking the earth in this vibrant land.
Each petal unfurls, a color so bright,
Dancing in air, taking glorious flight.

---

So step into peace, let your spirit ascend,
Embrace the new day, till the very end.
For every sunrise, a fresh chance we find,
To leave worries behind, and be truly kind.
My AI friend wrote this although different from my usual style I think it's quite nice
Beneath long lashes, misty clad,
      Your limpid eyes are sometimes sad;
They bring to mind a homeless waif
Engulfed in rain with nowhere safe

Most times I find a cheerful light
Within your eyes that sparkles bright,
And though my thoughts I try to hide
                  My happiness wells up inside

At dawn I see your eyes aglow
      Like founts through which your passions flow;
And when I’m low they always loom
Like morning glories through the gloom

Your smile ashine beneath my gaze
      Effulgent eyes beam all ablaze:
            A look, a touch, a kiss I yearn,
You slowly make my body burn

While at your side and in a heap
I scanned your eyes, half closed, asleep,
And as you slept with pillow clutched,
Your eyelids with my lips I touched

And if you’ve ever wondered why
I try to search within each eye,
Though past is past, your eyes remind
Of bygone times when love was kind

Yet, though your eyes still cast a spell
They seem to bid a fond farewell,
            Reflecting but a fading storm
Although I know your thoughts are warm

But now our paths will part, alas,
      For good things always come to pass;
Perhaps it lies within God’s ken
That someday we may meet again
