Once upon a golden day
They led me to where thy layst
In all thine splendour, fire and might
An angel did then cloud my sight
O enchantress, what sayst thou?
Your sight, it dost put a glamour on me
Behind thine eyes of ebony
What colors doth thou see?
Clench my throat in thy marble hand
Steal my soul
My heart
My mind
In thy cloak of conium and chamomile
What is they purpose? O sweet angel?

We all need our walls
They keep out that which is unwanted

So, you ***** a simple structure of wood

But wood can be burned
And is therefore, insufficient

So, you build it up with brick
Encasing either side

But brick can be crushed to powder
And wood can be burned
And is therefore, insufficient

So, you build it up with granite stone
Encasing either side

But granite stone can be mined away
And brick can be crushed to powder
And wood can be burned
And is therefore, insufficient

So, you build it up with wrought iron
Encasing either side

But wrought iron breaks if struck in the right place
And granite stone can be mined away
And brick can be crushed to powder
And wood can be burned
And is therefore, insufficient

So, you build it up with four-inch steel
Encasing either side

But four-inch steel can be cut away
And wrought iron breaks if struck in the right place
And granite stone can be mined away
And brick can be crushed to powder
And wood can be burned
And is therefore, insufficient.

But then you ponder
The wood
The brick
The granite
The iron
The steel

And you realize
In trying to protect your soft core
In trying to spare others from the radiation that is your uniqueness
In building your fortress
You have isolated yourself

And though you feel your wall
Will always be insufficient

In truth

Nobody
Will ever be determined enough
Or brave enough
To cut away the four-inch steel
To strike and break the iron
To mine away the granite stone
To crush the brick to powder
To burn the wood
And crush the brick to powder
And mine away the granite stone
And strike and break the iron
And cut away the four-inch steel

In keeping others out
You have locked yourself in
Your own private, frozen hell
Of toxic radiation

The ice consumes you
And only you can thaw it
The wall looms tall and dark
And only you can demolish it
You cannot stop being who you are
And only you can convince yourself that you are not toxic

But you were never truly trying to keep others out, were you?
You were trying to keep out yourself

You are your own worst enemy

yesterday was history
tomorrow is a mystery
but today is a gift,
that is why we call it the present.
but of this is true,
wouldn't some lives not be gifts?
or would they be happy ones,
that we have have not unwrapped yet?

I watched the snow descend to earth
Attention sought as flakes give birth
Submit to all her majesty
Surrender clouded canopy

A freezing fox that runs across
The curtilage wild turkey's toss
A lofty oak tree hides raccoon
Two fledgeling birds lose their platoon

The strapping deer takes off in flight
See squirrels flee with all their might
An Owl concluding calls of whoo
The animals know too eschew

All happens when the snowflakes fall
Am spellbound by one flake or all
The memory each one contain
Unique like us and our domain

Snowflakes and animals I see
We all are different you and me
Is random chance its proximious?
Creation not dichotomous

Am thankful I could see this view
And freedom too believe it's true

obnoxious
In my heart
I truly thought these shadows would've faded
I thought they'd pass on by like a cold
slowly & with time to be its only cure

Now I realize
there is a thing called closure
which i should really get into the habit of
but that required making me face you again
& making me face you again made me forgive you
& making me forgive you made me forget of all faults
& making me forget of every fault of yours made me want you, again
& making me want you made you want me
& you wanting me made us officially a thing
though i loved the way i felt in your possession
snuggled close into your chest
I hated what you did to me
I hated what you said to me
I hated that it stopped, too

It gave me no reason to hate you
but more reason to adore you
What would it feel like to be on the other end of how I think of you
How would it feel to be wanted so bad, I'm all they thought about
And their last thought before they fell asleep was me
How would it feel to be the way you are to me

What would it feel like to be the one that saves the day
You amaze me with being more perfect than I thought you could be
When I'm laying down I feel alone thinking of things I'll never say
How would it feel to be the way you are to me

Do you know all of this happening when you're gone
And when you wake in the morning do you feel that feeling so so strong
You have me chasing shooting stars and staying up till dawn
Just for the chance that you tell me in your mind, I've been that one all along

How would it feel to be the way you are to me

Pushed aside and cast to dirt
My soul seems so lost and fearful of this hurt
Come near Once Again
O, Lover of my soul
Show me that I have been saved from the fire and pulled from the ash
To be made beautiful . . .
Once Again

Lift my spirit to soar
Let my life take flight
On the back of a horse I have never been closer
To the Maker of the night . . .

Something inside You've made
I long to be free with the passion you created inside of me
Confined to walls and the pavement creeps
Where are the sunlit fields and the time where it was just You and me? . . .

Come to my rescue O Lover of my soul
Save me from the war within
That I may ride on this earth
Just to be near You . . .
Once Again
I wrote this poem in the middle of the night a few weeks after losing my dad. We were so close and we had a special bond and love of horses. This was from my soul telling Jesus how I longed to ride with my dad and see them both soon. Once Again I wanted to be wrapped in the arms of love and to be close to my Creator. There's so much I could continue to say, but I only hope that it blesses your soul as it did mine to pour it out upon the pages of my book.
