The Defeat

Wond'ring where my dreams had gone

I traveled lonely on my way.

Turning neither High or low,

Stopping stop-Going go...

I came to know the bitterness!

Aspirations, venerations

no more linger here...

Flee from me, my destiny

and tarry in defeat...

Knowing not my place in time

I thought in oft 'I will endure...'

Searching purpose here to know,

stopping stop, and going go,

I found myself to wandering...

Aspirations! Venerations!

Enter in my sphere!

Yet, still to flee-my destiny-

does tarry in defeat...

Then, something small I start to feel.

I feel it strong, and then I hear-

From a heart that is not mine,

Heart to heart, and line for line...

'In your 'nothing, ' You are Something! '

Aspirations! Venerations!

O, How sweet and clear!

Stay with me, O, destiny,

and nevermore defeat!

As I traveled on my way

Candles

As I drove home, I thought: we should all bless the darkness.
If mercy, in her cold rain, should slide us off of the road, then all that we owe and have owed can be erased.

(Sometimes you'll remember nothing but a face. Sometimes both life and war are waste.)

But when we pray we seek not simply to use our voices.
We give our venerations now with wine-stained lips and teeth.

(Someone will remember you, and someone will remember me.)

As we raise our mortal pleas we hope to be like candles.

(A candle is never diminished in lighting another candle.)

We press our hands and knees and backs against the darkness, and for the darkness we perfect our brightest smiles.
As we skid we know the car will handle, so long as candles continue lighting candles.

Rumbled under sullen skies
Cast my cries to the birds of the air
The cadence of mind
Blind expectations

The ache of angels and soliloquied

Sugared glaze to coat the rendered

Fawning
My voracious ego tasteless
Vinegar on the palette
The sweat of my brow spat out
In a shallow glass
The circumstance of banality

Watching telecast of Mahabharat triggered memory revival
Eerie similarities of epic with continuing battle for survival
Blind king flouted every rule with disdain for love of his son
Responsible for an epic horrendous war which Pandavs won

Smiling omnipotent Krishna did not prevent war
Not much impact of his omnipresent power so far
His inspirational teachings which made Arjun shine
Now mostly confined to books, temples and shrine

Grim battle for humanity also started in similar vein
By reckless powers aiming to consolidate their rein
Arrogant regional satraps blinded with lust for power
Have been mute spectators from their ivory tower

Like helpless Bhishma hiding behind grand eloquent dialogues
Big leaders have become arrogant and delusional demagogues
Religious seers and priests contributed by enforcing all ritual
Promoting and spreading pandemic disregarding havoc visual

Vast army of virus supported by conniving profiteers
Faced brave and indefatigable medical musketeers

And practiced Gita’s selfless Karma with best judgment

Dedicated frontline warriors in PPE have taken up the cudgel
Ceaseless heroic efforts will eventually sound winning bugle
Evil forces cannot overwhelm our warriors for righteous cause
Will not leave any stone unturned for making nightmare pause

Never have any doubts that humanity will survive
The gospel of victory of good over evil will revive
Millennial battle will be remembered for generations
With praise for warriors and their rightful venerations

Tonight I lay to sleep
This girl ne’er fully seen before,
Sleepy submerged in echo of youths wonder
Chiming bells from island shore.
A time— Well...
Perhaps not too long ago.

Now in this time of returning
Her breath is soft and sweet
Even easing through lips parted
Beside fluttered kids of bliss

Here! You’ve come home little one
As I knew you could
(Would, and should)
Therefore a welcome stranger in my soul.

You’re arrival I long awaited
Perhaps too impatiently
For once I nearly delivered quittance

Only I knew the gracious goodness
For which I stood cemented.
My former lover teasing my truth
Fleeting amidst my vulnerable venerations
Though I’d not yet met result.

So God Bless forbearance,
Our strength and fortitude
Working towards, we often knew not what

But I staid my feet in
(Sometimes sinking) sand
Holding your hand
As you fought with emotive sin,
(Sometimes my own) wave, and
Wind.

Now allow me to be selfish,
And to perfect a certain clarity
Sharing my own status for completion
Since you slept through my silent revelation
I watched this miracle, submerged
Infectious reflection:

Your bliss, though in finality
Not produced of my flesh,
Surprised my sandy self with
Surpassing value supremacy

This serenity, in
Serendipitously naive show and tell
You carried to my shores.
