Ramadan comes with lots of prayers,
Fasting and doing charity,
With the fragrance of heaven,
Which still lingers in our mind,
To Allah alone, we turn our hopes and intentions.
Ramadan does not leave empty handed,
It leaves with a golden handshake in the name of
EID UL FITR.
To celebrate with family and friends,
Reaching out our hearts,
Extending happiness,
Sewing relationships.
What better than a sweet dish
Sev khurmo (vermicelle cooked in milk with raisins almonds and pistachios ),
To hail in oneness,
Joy and prosperity.
Happy Eid Mubarak

We had nothing
only sun and heat
fights and love
a basement, in the hottest country
the only 2 people anyone knew that were still eating
it was Ramadan

We were strangers
poor and lonely
not familiar with their language
just relying on each other

We were eating
but the country loved us anyway
countless strangers
smiling at our non-arabic skin colours
every single person we met did everything to welcome us

It was my birthday, but also Eid al-Fitr
the strangers started eating
big smiles, and bigger hearts
a country I may never see again
gave me
and you
the best july I ever saw

Eid day is the brightest day.
A day to see brighter.
Eid-al-Fitr is a delightful holiday.
Muslims gathered
with the symbol of submission.
To seek repentance and peace.
To pursue health and prosperity,
From their Lord, Allah.
May our monotheistic
worship be accepted.

Anticipation rising
as our holiday nears

My gosh, Eid ul Fitr
is already here

In the early morning
on your way to groom and a bath

I know it's so because
I too clean up to be on the same path

Squeaky clean
the skin on our faces shine

A gigantic goal accomplished
oh we're feeling really fine

Who needs Christmas when we've got Eid
a festivity that includes all Muslims even those in need

Decorative clothes we wear while extending our hearts to each other and offering a good cheer
it isn't hard to tell our love of our religion is near

From the same community we come, it's known we throw a fun-filled Eid party
"Because this is my holiday" and our festive spirits aught to be really hearty

Allah hu Akbar, the accessory and ornament of our special day
along with a duo and nearly two billion others, you'll hear me loudly say

When little girls, Atefeh's and my enthusiasm about Eid blossoming as we sang an Eid song perhaps trying to compete
"From sunrise to sunset, no food did we eat. All praises are due to Allah, our fast is now complete."

Mehdi whose thoughts of his beloved in the distance too busy with his boys climbing trees and ducking low
a long time friend of two families to witness a wedding and a start of an Eid tradition that brings the community together, what a show

So here's to Mehdi and Atefeh, Eid enthusiasts among a few
showing you gratitude and appreciation, for we've heard it said "It takes one to know two."

Eid Mubarak!!! Eid Saeed!!!
Jon Shierling Jul 2013
I came to a town on the road to you,
and by chance the day was Eid al Fitr.
The was much music and dancing and rejoicing in life's fullness;
I too was swept away in the simple ecstasies.

But the old Mullahs had heard of my travels
and bid come unto them to discuss heavy matters.
"How can one break the Law and remain beloved of Allah?"

"Because God created the Law out of Love,
thus the Love of Allah is above and beyond it's precepts.
God will Love whom He chooses."
Outrage. Insult. Blasphemy.

The music outside drew my soul away, and I joined
the common people, my brothers and sisters,
while the old men argued without us.

Wordlessly, we danced.
Eid Al Fitr is the celebration commemorating the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.
No-one in our community celebrates Eid alone,
We gather in masjid for Eid prayers,
After majlis we greet each other
HAPPY EID MUBRAK
Then we have a hearty  breakfast in a sitting of eight people around a big steel plate(thal),
With variety of dishes and hot piping tea,
We start with vermicelli sevkhurmo,
A must for Eid ul fitr,
The rich and the poor celebrate as one.
This Eid I decided to give a personal touch,
I didn't send posts of Eid Mubarak,
Instead when I received Eid Mubarak posts,
I replied with emojis and love and thank you stickers,
Adding wishes like:
You are in my prayers,
Thank you for sharing your happiness with me,
You mean a lot to me.

The God of the World is Al-Aziz
He is the Almighty, no one can surpass Him
Supreme power his His

The God of the World is Al-Khaaliq
He is the Creator, source of all natural things
That is why He comforts even the sick

The God of the World is Al-Haafiz
He is the Preserver, sustains all He creates –
Nature, plants, animals & human beings

The God of the World is Al-Hakkaam
He is the Ultimate Judge, Master of the Final Day
Trial He will bring on the day to come

The God of the World is Al-Malik
He is the Highest Ruler, Lord of lords and King of kings
The only leader you cannot kick

The God of the World is Al-Muhyee
He is the Life-Giver, only He can grant us breath
Ourselves we must surrender to Thee

The God of the World is Al-Mumeet
He is the Life-Ender, only He can take our breath
Ourselves to Him we must submit

The God of the World is Al-Muntaqim
He is the Avenger, our foes to Him let us entrust
They will be justly punished by Him

The God of the World is Al-Ahad
He is the Only One, it’s only Him we must worship
False gods will be destroyed if He gets mad!
