"dayglo" poems
He wants a sugar spun girl- no lemon ***** no licorice, no peppermint. Hard rock candy. You gotta be sweet for him to crave you. Sweet on the tongue, sweet on the eyes in a package easy to tear, pop, unfold. He likes it dayglo and with sprinkles, marshmallow soft, moldable and meltable , milk chocolate, white chocolate. He shies away from bitterness. Don't you dare fill him up. He has a real meal waiting, somewhere else, later. Your job is to be consumed. What you need doesn't matter. He wants candy, girl, not a meal. Better sugar coat it, or he won’t buy you and you want to be bought, don't you?

Candy Girl
THE CONSTELLATION OF THE GIRL FROM WALLA-WALLA I lick her lifeline "Oh I can see you are going to have a wet wet life!" she watches the tip of my tongue crawl along her heart line "You will have many many kisses!" she sips her fine wine laughs...munches sweet onions all I say comes true right away guess I got it right cute girl from Walla-Walla sleeping just up against the Pacific Ocean "Shhhh..!" says the Pacific Ocean as it watches over her sleep I place DayGlo stars on all her extremities she becomes her own constellation the constellation of the Girl From Walla-Walla being looked after by a specific Ocean "Walla-Walla!" the waves call to her but she's lost inside a dream "Are you really a real Walla-Wallan?" I ask of her "Yep!" she grins "I'm the real thing!" "The only Walla-Wallan I knew before I knew you was a girl in a book!" I turn the snow-dome up-side d-own watch it snow forever I remember her letter telling me of a snowstorm she once knew "I took a little of the snowstorm put it in the fridge so it could melt in July." "The snow storm had never met a July before so this was its big chance!" "When the left-over snowstorm finally got to meet its July it cried itself into oblivion!" "...here. . ." her letter pauses for ever outside snow falls now

THE CONSTELLATION OF THE GIRL FROM WALLA-WALLA
Tear out my eyes repainting them shades of purple puke and send me off back to work Snip the curious child from my gut and paint the walls pink with his feet pour drano into my ears so that i may not have to think anymore lobotomize my fingernail biting fetishes till i only get hard-on's from my skull dragging its skin across the pavement you pitiful excuse for a poet you hope to dazzle them with dayglo frosting caked like mold in the corners of your mouth you sick hopeless perfectionist knitting cellophane walls of hands slapping your face so you can close your eyes and lose yourself in the confines of your stalagmites you with your cut and paste philosophies which leave gaping holes stretching across everybody's pupils huh? exactly you ******* pustule of plastic bubbles you are an empty bud no flower could rise from soil as rank as yours no love will ever find comfort in a heart as prickly as yours i can only be ashamed that i share your body i'm better off getting aborted next time you sneeze so that i could infect another's fragile flesh passing our sick parasite at least something of yours will be left for others to cherish

Masochism
Our little teenage babushka Carina Marie flaxen haired beauty with caramel pink complexion and starlight eyes I watch as you paint the world with a vivid imagination and the rich, dayglo colors of your palette Although I do wonder why you hang cans from the ceiling and tape a fork to the fan all with an avant-garde shrug of your shoulders and a blasé smile I see the hidden potential bursting forth like a sudden downpour of sunshine A bright door opens in the golden mist

A WILLIAM CARLOS WILLIAMS MOMENT She awakes to a DayGlo yellow post-it-note stuck to her bottom lip. 'Forgive me...' it reads '...stealing the kisses sleepily left on your luscious lips they were delicious.' You call me at the office & cry. *******

A WILLIAM CARLOS WILLIAMS MOMENT
They sprouted more than flew, and there were quite a few, possibly dozens — though, looking back, I always do tend to exaggerate such incidents. Anyway, this aphid swarm of grassy greens decided to make me home, and my chest crawled with specks, while I waited for a bus to St. Peter's. They could have been splattered "as if's" spat from the mouths of hungry sparrows, taken mid-swallow with a guffaw at this tourist dressed in DayGlo. I might've gotten the omen, but intuition wouldn't surrender its clues how to shoo insect guests attracted by a coincidental cloth. Perhaps they were meant as subtle hints — an eternal city keeps its own agenda.
