LIFE AND I

Life sends me an invitation
‘ Let’s have a conversation’
  I decline without hesitation-
‘ I need not your explanation’.

Enough conversation I have had
With my own heart---in every season--
Words are but shadows of truth, they cajole
Must everything have a reason?

I should be as empty
As the open sky
I should dwell in wordless nature
I should not ask: Why?

How calm is the dusk
How serenely does the night fall
I wake, I work, I sleep, I dream---
Only that I know---it’s my all-in-all.

Written in the tram to the city
A STRANGE DREAM

I had a strange dream last night.
A wise man said to me so:
‘ There are only two words
In life that you need to know’.

‘What would that be, sire?’
The sage stroke his white beard and this he did say:
‘ Yes and no’ with a chuckle
Now, I have promises to keep,  you must go your way’.

FIVE HAIKU

1

At the last bus stop
a woman alights with child
a man waves to them

2

Two boys on the beach
quarrel over some pebbles
their mothers watch on

3

Red late-autumn leaves
fall on old wooden benches
the park is empty

4

The crow on the roof
surveys its usual domain
It has not eaten

5

Under the lamplight
a boy is kissing a girl
watched only by stars

I feel so hollow sometimes
As weightless as your charms
Resting quiet at my breast
Bound to you in depth, by death,
I carry silent remnants
Like a noose around my neck
A porcelain heart
An Angel's wing
A silver crying moon
A heart of steel
A balanced cross
A grief too deep to feel.
I too am now a cloud.
I lost my baby boy in May and I'm still trying to process all of the emotions. To lose a child is the ultimate sorrow. None else compares. I wear his heart from the hospital every day. The sound of the charms jingling when I walk brings me comfort, reminds me daily of him.
Arm yourselves with shame... Humble heartedness; the gallows of Ego.

Greed
The consumer of life
The hungry be ******
Gold brings gold
The Poet bleeds
With hourglass sand

Time's direction
Is no return
All the stages
Of live and learn
A blink of an eye
For what we deny
A sigh runs deep
For every white lie

Yet still we turn
In perpetual motion
Collective souls
In similar oceans ...

She evoked a pause,
a pause in my day as everything around her froze,
a pause in my thoughts . . .  therefore a pause in my note . . .
A pause in my breath,
as she aimlessly floats,
in her beautiful way so gracefully slow,
through the time she is sown in my beautiful note . . .
For this pause I will never know to exist as so brief and so slow,
as if in all of  her glow I feel lost and so,
this moment's etched to forever show,
the beautiful pause evoked . . .
that's left by her . . . left in my lovely notes.-JS
Heart skipped a beat while in my seat its her I see as I pause from my sheet
She breathes fire burning everyone with her words for fun. And just when you think that she’s stopped, you’ll soon realise that she’s only just begun. Oh dragon lady, won’t you ever stop? No, don’t you dare have another pop. For I can be much harsher than you, you won’t want to see what I can do. So come on then, what have you got? I already know the answer, it is diddly squat.
