Ocean Blue
Please, come closer
I wish to feel you near
So I can whisper
Something in your ear.
Three little words I call a secret,
A commitment I don't dare to say
But if you press on my heart
You'll feel it anyway.

Silence is not keeping quiet
because you have nothing
to say...

Silence is having a lot
to say but no desire
to speak...

The doctors said he'd never walk
But today he scored a run
His cleats were kicking up the chalk
As he ran from base to base
Normally he gets out
Before he even makes first base
This time both teams gave a shout
When he crossed home plate

So pay no mind to what they say
When the doctors tell you never
Keep on trying and one day
You may prove them wrong
And if you don't at least you know
You gave your baby every chance
To live a normal life and grow
To experience everything.
My special needs son finally scored a run, and the stands were filled with shouts. The coaches, parents, and players for the other team were just as thrilled as we all were and it made me cry.
Sometimes
I try to write
and nothing but words come out.

I hate those nights.

A hand reaches for the glass.
Warm fingers meet cold crystal,
trying to wipe away the imperfections.
As unforgiving as ever,
the flaws remain.
Mirrors are a painful thing, are they not?

Do you think of me
as I think of you?
like an anchor in my mind
like my northern star
every pathway leads to you
and the nighttime
never seemed so beautiful
