I knew a girl once.
And she was beautiful.
Black hair curled down to her waist,
A comforting word and a pair of kind eyes helped me in the dark nights.
But the others couldnt see her beauty.
They were to concerned about what was between her legs.
They mocked her long hair and skirts,
Telling her to stop pretending and be normal.
She gave up her identity to the blade of a kitchen knife.

I knew a boy once.
And he was popular.
He partied, he made friends, he had fun.
He made everyone feel included.
He helped me in a strange new place,
Helped me find peace in others.
But his dad only found peace in the bottom of a bottle.
Alcohol did nothing to damage his aim,
And begging did nothing to help the sting.
The boy left us behind with the help of the belt that ruined him.

I knew someone once.
They didn't fit in well.
They drew a lot of weird things,
Wrote a lot of bad poetry,
And couldn't quite figure out how to talk to people.
But they loved the rain.
Sometimes they would sit and watch it for hours, perfectly content.
One day, they started a poem.
They wrote and they wrote and they wrote,
And when they were completely satisfied,
They opened the window to see the rain better.
They sat on the window sill, looking out at the pouring rain.
Then they smiled.
Took a deep breath.
And jumped.
This is what happens when I listen to depressing music late at night.
I’ve never received a flower
Or even a rose
But I’m a guy
So it’s acceptable I suppose
No kisses
Or sweets
No treats
That signifies ones feelings for me
No token of ones love
But I have gotten
Disappointment
Watered with hate
Planted in betrayal
Fertilized with lies
And maintained by fakes
Roses are Red
But my roses are dead
And crumble beneath my feet
she was)

The vessel embarking at the sudden light

Empty as an infant

The eyes, the windows
The sonar, the ears
The propeller, the legs
The hull, the skin
Equpped with hands to grip and collect
Drifting into the great unknown

(She stirred)

The vessel predisposed to doldrums
basking in the sun's golden light
Mother moon at night
taking the vessel in

In warm embrace

The vessel learning from experience
storing its hurts, resentments,
sorrows, regrets
fears and guilts
in the hold

Susceptible to changing weather
And lightning strikes announcing who
she is

This vessel voyages the seas of time

Forming beliefs about self
telling stories and reminiscing

(She headed to the bathroom
Couldn't help it
Was so into the dream
Tried to keep it with her,
eyelids half shut
The vessel on the high seas)

(She dreamt)

The vessel was stuck at the Cape
Rockin and rollin
in waves of self pity
hanging on to the mast for dear life

Dear life.

Remembering
Deep love
Slices of delight
Happiness coming
The weather calm.

(She awoke with a start
Her breath taken away
"What a strange night"
She had to say,
The moon was setting
Dawn's twilight had not yet begun
She searched the high seas)

The vessel reached its port of call,
It had weathered many storms

The hold was bursting with forlorn
she carries with her,
in every breath she takes,

And, she proceeds -
proceeds to disembark

Fully alive, arriving at her destination

(Awakening, she is in a mood,
her dream, the waterway to the moon,
The vessel remained
The dream had ended too soon
As all wonderful dreams tend to do

The alarm clock went off,
She thought about calling in sick
She got on the computer
Started looking for ports of call.
Heading to the Sierra's for awhile, be well, one and all.
breathing the turquoise like lavender,
and sipping the blue summer.
bitter cold clouds glide and morph lava lather,
floating whispers cut by sweet pineapple sunshine.

soon, a moment, now
rhythms ripple the sky like skipping stones
we jump the music like puddles
splashing in the frequencies.

cobalt bass rumbles the earth hungry,
pumps the air with springing spirals
pushing and pulling the senses,
reverberating through cells.

heavy mud humming, stomping
echoes through our atoms dizzy;
balancing tuned body to innate electricity
the fizz of circulating lemonade energy.

we jump the music like puddles
splashing in the frequencies.

strawberry melodies spilling ribbons,
dolphin leaps of the spaces inbetween beats,
lines of colours overlapping,
colliding, mixing, merging, blending
in with the forest.

washing over souls the life fire sparkles
like a clear water cleansing harmonies,
sound waves crashing against inertia.
phosphorescent glow of re-charged love
for the world, for being, animation

flowing through burnt smoky ashes
of sapphire charcoal skies;
dimmed radiation of chlorophyll emerald days.
the smell of salt, dry bark, fluffy carbon mists,
trembling lights softening the eyes'
grip on outlines, loosening lies.

watching the cycles of patterns
tumbling colours through a mill rotating,
and the silence of listening
when the music comes to an end.
Something I've been working on for a long time on and off since 2015.

A Scene
Comes to mind.
Evading reality.
Waves
Of comfort
Covering.
A vast ocean
Of warmth
Descending.
Resilience
The framework
Surrounding.
Safe here
In this passageway
Pretending.

Sinking,
Under recesses,
To discover
The crevices,
Of Time-
Seen
In rusted "pieces"
Of Tattered Playgrounds,
From long ago.

The Merry-Go-Round
Turned Round',
Again-
And again...

We can never
Rewind the tape,
Just remember it.

Tire Graveyards,
And Landfills
Of broken-down
By-products,
Of our Being.

Confetti Cream,
And
"Stories to Convince,"
Created Daily,
But true words
Live forever.

Thoughts-
Always,
Crossing over,
To the opposite
Side,
Of the Spectrum.

Unknowingly...

Like ghosts-
Figments,
There,
In the mind.
(Visiting only for a short time)

Built a bridge,
For you
To climb
Across.

Laying bricks,
So high-
Never
To collapse,
Again.

A voice,
Echoes
Following behind,
Never to
Subside,
Calling
From within.

Throughout.
Through them.

Just Ghosts...
