Up & up we walked
toward the twilight,
tiny specks between
the black and the blue
& below us
the rumble of hell
beckoned us,
hissing steam
& spitting dust
in the faces
of our dreams
as we kissed the sky.
Those are the days miss.

I've counted
the stars of his belt
a few thousand times
& the sisters
have spoken to me
many times more,
kept me company
on the most frigid of nights.
Dogs and bulls and eagles
have given me guidance
during the pitch darkness.
And the falling ones
have given me hope
through the madness
of this never ending fight.

Sooner or later
the time comes
to pick yourself up,
reach for them bootstraps,
pull up out of the dark mire.
Your fire smolders
& staying in the pit
keeps you so.....
but you have so much
more to live,
give yourself
a fighting chance,
flame on & fly away
into the sunlight.

She blew me away by accident,
but I guess I'll never know her,
I'm going away,
it's time.
And when
she searches the stars,
she will see me
in every falling one,
she swims at night,
she will hear me
in the ocean surf,
she walks alone in the forest,
she will taste me
in the summer rain,
she reads poetry late at night,
she will feel me
in my sincerest-words,
meant only for her.
She will have me forever
when I'm gone.

And as the coins are counted one by one
How much is nickel worth in apologizes?
A dime? A quarter?
lord forgive
never meant to hold up the line

i would not allow an individual to set a foot on paths i have rummaged through the pain is not worth perspective
a heavy sheet of frost
draped over our township
earlier this morning
arid times
draw closer
the terrain
shall be bleached
not a scintilla
of greenness
shall be apportioned
on acreages
days of phosphorus
filled skies
prevailing
as the soils
dry to a crisp
the landholders
shall be depressed
of state
the wicked heat
not in abatement
summers coming
drought
is soon to be here
the searing winds
from north west flank
burning
with intensity
creeks and rivers
barren of flows
the countryside
not quenched
of its thirst
fear shall grip
farming communities
bereft of rain
month after month
of scorching inure
the outlook
grim of prospect
to dust
the landscape
shall transform
rendering it
to a sterile
vastness

Where do they all go
the unspoken words
Do they melt, into nothingness
burning in the backs of our throats
Or delve into the blue deepness of our thoughts
a sunken treasure
I think they hitch rides
with the hopeless
and the heartbroken
Sitting heavy on shoulders

And I'm walking with the weight of the world
and I'm walking with the weight of the world

Fly
I think of you, early and often
When I wake you tip toe your way across my lips
I think you have unfinished business there
You twist your way into my words, rest easy in my breath
I never meant to soak you in
You tangle your life with mine, like your finger 'round your ribbons of hair
The world around me is ripe with nostalgia
Dripping sticky sweet memories of you, like syrup
You told me if we were born flying, we would spend our lives wishing we could walk
But we flew together
And walking just isnt doing it for me anymore
