I hope you know what love really is

and if you don't, I hope you learn one day
That love isn't a possessive way
and if you let your ego lead
You are sure to feel jealousy, pain, and greed

Love takes maturity

because it doesn't always work out they way you'd like
You need to be able to understand so you won't have spite
Love goes deeper than skin
and it touches within

You want them to be happy and even if that means letting go*

A smile on your face will still exist
You are genuinely happy for them and love has taught you to subsist
They are still around breathing the air you breathe
and that alone will always keep you relieved

Love teaches lessons that stick with you till the end
How I have felt once in my life and am blessed to say I have experienced such. I still love him to this day and always will.

Compound eyes
Astonishing spectacles
Clairvoyant views from above
Wings glistening in the light of the sun

Buzzing long bodied mystical stories
Dragon's breath of spiritual eloquence
Releasing the bugs eating away at conscience
Skeletal spine of an egoless monk
whispering harmoniously the simple remedies
of cleansing thought

My snake doctor
Quick witted unmasker
your view 360 degrees
Focusing on the movement
and pesky mosquitos that feast
That leave us scratching our heads

I look on so enviously
at Lady Dragonfly
as she hovers angelically
In an eternal sky

It saddens me that the great one's lives are
always cut too short
but her legend lives on timelessly

I am jiggling on that stage.
The egoless strut.
The humorous tap.
The spectacular trip.
Fall over,
over. and
Over
again.

Get up,
find a ballroom
Dancer.
Find a hand holding
Partner.
Play "Spice Up Your Life".
Spice Girls,
listen to the bridge.
tells you to Salsa.

Watch that scene.
Billy Elliot,
With the pianist.
Dancing Billy.
He loves it.
Just do it,
you love it too.

Cheesy pop,
You don't need to
embellish yourself.
No grace notes.
No flat 7th.
You don't need
to sugarcoat,
the truth.

Let loose to riddims.
live on the dancefloor.
Feel the *****,
and the reggae.
Feel the triplets.
Rocksteady your way.
Dancehall to sounds.
Bounce and echo.
Side to side.
Left to right.

And we'll slow it
right
down.
The ballad starts.

Your beautiful structure on the left of your head,
the one called the ear.
The that ear controls aural empathy.
Let love be the choreographer to your moves,
Play the concept album, your heart.
Place it onto the record player and watch it spin
Start the track track with an International groove.
End. Replay.
There are a lot of pop culture and music reference here.
Flat 7: A musical interval, this can make melodies or chords bluesy or "****" depending on how it is used.
Grace note: Passing notes used in music to add flavor, its like a musical sprinkling of pepper or parsley.
Riddim:
Triplets: Very commonly used in carribean jamaican music, dancehall, reggae, swing, gypsy jazz.
*****: The backbeat in reggae music.

if I am to love you,
I will love without expectation
of return
or reciprocation-
neither acknowledgement
nor honey sweet affection.
I will love despite
brutal response
or dismal absence,
regardless of wounds and abscess,
and with no regret.
I will love every part
radiant and rotten alike,
leaving no portion of you out in the cold of night.

if I am to love you,
I will love with conscious intent,
not based in fleeting emotion,
but grounded
in purposeful action
and ever-evolving
spiritual awareness
of the pure metaphysical essence
of you-
and I-
as One.
I will remember that love is a garden,
and not an avalanche.
I will love in understanding
and trust that
there is nothing that separates us,
transcendent soul
immanent in each bone.

if I am to love you,
I will love in tranquil tracing,
in tender waves -
ascending and
receding.
candid caressing
peacefully pulsing pace of peeling
back layers
of my self-skin
to return to
the egoless origin.

if I am to love you,
I will love in humble gestures,
sacrificing all before me
not for moral glory,
but to recognize
shared sacredness.
surrendering desire and attachment,
equalizing all extensions
of the
you-me matrix.
I will love stepping over
self-interest
and dancing into harmony in singularity,
entire generosity
sharing all the puzzle pieces of me.

and,
if I am to love you,
I will love wild
true
and free.
letting the universe
continuously
wash my eyes in new clarity.
opening further
each golden morning
to share the light it has gifted me.
I wrote this after reading an amazing passage on charity, or pure spiritual love, from The Perennial Philosophy by Aldous Huxley. I am finding that I have so much to learn about interpersonal love through the concept of divine love: what it is, how to live in it, share it, embody it, and accept it.

Egoless Globe
Onoma Apr 2020
sleep broke her intervals

disproportionately this morning--

so i held her hand as this body tired.

it was when i came across my mother,

and thought from her truly.

kicking inside that belly, breaking our

heart--my egoless globe.

i part so many ways with my daring to

say...i realized her this morning.

If I truly loved this poem
I would stay up all night
weeping over it

I would dig it a good grave
build it a tomb

I wouldn't give it to fire
or set a pitiful cairn over it

I would send it off with all
the honors it deserves

not nothing,
which is what I planed

for maybe dreams will
be better than this poem

(that's probably true
I wouldn't want to waste

more time than necessary)
what it needs is violence

or knights or faery
but plenty of blood

sacrifice egoless
epic story of gods and men

not another one about me
or my father or mother or wife

or death (well maybe that)
or the doom of the world

here is what I want from you, poem
something to make me respect you

I want a dozen good men
to take over the the country

with wit and sword, blood and smoke
guitar and song, gun and blade

new heros for a new age
and new poems to pronounce them

maybe that's to much to ask
it probably is

I guess i'll just go to bed
and dream

That day in an unbecoming morning
You told me
You will be broken
If left you half way
I kept you carefully in me
With a fear
Least you will be broken
I could not understand you then
You broke all my innocent present
Sometimes you come in a stormy night
Or in a merciless sun
In my aloneness.
I have tried in so many ways
To understand your presence
But failed
Now everywhere there is lighted darkness
You cannot hide in me anywhere
Still my unattached waiting for your
Egoless smile
Hanging in your broken lips

I must be clear.
My mind, heart, soul, must align
with that of truth, and that of God
and it must come out my mouth
perceptible, so that all may know of what I speak,
and I must go there, and speak to you, because
it is my calling, and
today I opened my Bible to a random page
and, a highlight, left there from a long time ago
like I am prefiguring my own future,
"Here I am, Lord."
And I think, I've known the whole time.
Ever since that day,
when I saw those trees and the mountains and started crying
And the second day, when I felt the ground beneath me and the stars above
and I was whole, and humble, a full servant of the universe
And the third day, today, when the class was silent and I said,
'Prophet.'
And that's why I'm tall and my voice carries,
because there is something I must do.
I have walked in that path and I'm ready, because
having been aligned with the universe's purpose for me,
I have created and allowed for the bigger purpose to begin:
to perpetuate that egoless love,
and spread the word,
because agape, and only that, is how we can live in harmony.
You can feel it within you, can't you?
It's the human compassion that drives us and creates a straight line
from my heart to yours- if you are tugged, I will follow,
The strings of the loom are woven, not tangled;
how can we make each other happy?
That's the question.
Humans exist with one goal in mind: happiness.
The Buddhists believe something, as do the Hindus
and the Christians teach about it too.
They all seem to say something about love,
and something about suffering,
but there is one truth-
throughout all religions,
one message.
Give fully.
Give wholly.
Forget yourself.
Value your brother as much as that which you are-
We are one.
It's time we started acting like it.
We all have different ways of achieving and believing what it is that is true, but deep inside us, we know the way to harmony and happiness. Be it through meditation, theism, atheism, wicca. Whether you call it God or nature or the universe, you know what it is, don't you? We have to acknowledge the validity of others' ways to find the truth. We are all called home and we perceive what home looks like differently, but it is the same house. We can all feel deep inside us the world spinning and cycling and creating a beautiful harmonious chaos. We are all connected. We are one.
Ego
If I were free of ego
what would that make me?

Would I be pure?
Would I be at peace?
Would I be an inspiration?
Wouldn't I be my best self?

Yes... to be egoless.

The biggest ego trip of them all.
Sorry Harry if you read this. My next poem will have to be about you.
