Relaxing rain sounds
clear weeping eyes silently
in meditation

you ask
why
I gaze at the stars ?
I say
it's because
they remind me of your eyes

Dragging a blue cloth

پارچه ی آبی رنگی را به دنبال خود می کشد
On a distant summer
a girl walked four miles
to sell fruits at the haat
and mowed by the May heat
fell asleep on a patch of concrete.

The noon dusts played around her
sleep little girl rest your feet
the winds will play you a song
refresh you with dreams so sweet
the walk back home won't be long.

The sun had slid the shadows grown
when opened her dream dazed eyes
there she was at the haat all alone
her fruits in the basket had dried.

She had dreamed a round dime
clutched in her palm
colored gold with her wish

she had slept thru the time
and when the winds calmed
held nothing to buy home a fish.

Time has flown those dusts far away
years have grown her wise
yet when the winds blow lonely in May
her tears she cannot disguise.
Culled from real life, I thought of writing it for an adult mind, but ended up doing it for the child in me, or maybe, there's really no dividing line.
(Today I complete four years on HP, thanks to all my poet friends for being with me on the journey)
‘He who rises from prayer a better man, his prayer is answered’
                                                   - George Meredith

In the solemn silence of the cathedral
Close to the 'sanctum sanctorum'
Away from the din of the world
I sat in prayer for hours

In deep adoration as I sat with eyes closed
Envisioning Him at the inmost shrine of my heart
I sensed His living touch all over my body
The one without form lifted me in His arms

Like a child clinging to a caring father
I opened my heart before Him
Placed my life’s burdens at His feet
Asked for gifts my frail hands could hold!

Coming out, relieved and enriched
At the gate I was greeted by a beggar
Dressed in rags, his hair lying wildly matted
With sores in his body, he looked a piteous sight

In his outstretched hands was a begging bowl
His lips were pleading in silence
From my bounty, I gave him something
And saw the glitter in his hazy eyes

Can I ever discriminate him
When we both do the same thing
While he begs before me outside the shrine
I beg before the Lord inside the shrine!
A very simple write straight and unostentatious with no word play ! I don't know if it can be called a poem!

I see myself
Years down the road
My hair thin
Just as my fathers is now
Just as my grandfathers was back then

I see it clearly
White as snow
How the realization falls on me
That only in that time will I know
The meaning of true tiredness
The weariness of aging eyes
Which have seen the full duration of life

And looking out
From here inside
I realize that within my skin
A younger man will always reside

Even if my glasses one-day need frames
Or my love passes away before my eyes
Or something along those lines

I will probably write forever and always
Throughout every hour
Of the day and night
Because once the mind is awake and alive
It cannot stop perusing what is right

How I see it clearly
In this moment know
That the white which rests atop my head
Will not forever be of snow
Bald from Piebald, crowned with white
