I had a girlfriend once
I'd say we were alike
In more ways than one

We went crazy over each other
Gifts in public
Different gifts in private

I gave my heart
She gave hers too
I loved her but I cared for my wellness

For once in my life I considered myself
As a person who needed protection
There was an acid present that I've no place to voice

She gave her heart
I wrenched mine back
I left her and felt awful

That acid turned to venom
And it poisoned me so
It was either that or my ultimate destruction

There's cures for venom
Not so for ruins
