Happy anniversary.

Can you believe
That it’s been a year?
I can still feel the first time,
Your hands danced on mine,
A soft presence, almost shy.
I could barely pay attention
To the film playing on television
Because there, right beside me,
A story was already unfolding,
One that was far more fascinating
Than any other mystery.

And it was.
Here we are, a year later,
The story continues to be
The most gruelling mystery
Of two people ceasing to be,
Of you & I never becoming we,
Instead, a strange, foreign word
To each other’s vocabulary.
I thought we both saw ourselves
In this picture perfect future:
Lying together on crumpled sheets,
Watching Sherlock on repeat,
Reading poetry and drinking coffee,
A state of being indescribably
Happy.

We were never meant to be that.
Only a manuscript tossed in the trash.
We loved too little, and bled too much,
Too proud to break the silence.
Too scared to end the sentence.
So let’s scrap the ending,
And go back to the beginning:

Happy anniversary.

You are the sun to me,
you are the air I breathe,
you are the one I meet,
I find you in my dreams.

I am the moon to you,
I am the colours and hues,
I am the one who's true,
You see us as a breakthrough.

You are the past,
The magic I cast,
The one who'll last,
Our world so vast.

I am the now,
The wolf who howls,
I pledge, I vow.
I bend, you allow.

We break the mould,
Don't do as we're told,
We merge and fold,
Untie our blindfolds.
I have no idea what being in love is like, as the woman I am today.
I experienced it when I was 17. That was 10 years ago. I am fascinated by love - and crave it so.

I was consumed by liquor,
prompting my gates to open.

Out rushed the courage,
to share with you my emotions.
you're probably dating someone right now and you have no idea that you're just wasting your time 'cause you are going to be mine anyway,

I'm sorry.

but thank you, for not coming too soon, for giving me time to grow, to be better, to deserve you

don't get me wrong, love.
I'm dying to know you
I'm dying to tell you how my day went
I'm dying to tell you stories—I always have a story to tell, I hope you won't get tired of listening
I'm dying to hear your voice
I'm dying to feel your warmth
I'm dying to feel your love
I'm dying to feel

I am just not ready yet
I am broken, and I do not want you to fix me
I am lost, and I do not want you to find me
I want you to meet me halfway, love,
when everything falls back into place
