As winds blow
And leaves scatter
As cracks show
And unions shatter

As fires rage
And trees fall
As pawns stage
And heros stall

As mud slides
And homes give way
As truth hides
And pseudonyms stay

As hope dies
And brave men stumble
As tides rise
And sandcastles crumble

We hardly even notice...
Too preoccupied with smartphones and selfies
The older I get,
  the more important words become

The shorter the days,
the deeper the streams that run

With time closing in,
I reach for the poems and rhymes

Into the twilight,
—for one last miraculous line

We will always have this bond of love and pain
Though you can never really see into the heart of another
I shall always remain your loved one
Even though I am not the one
When I see your photograph, I weep
A cri de coeur of loneliness
Sentimental me
Remembering the scent of you and
The plans we made for vacations together
For having a secret wedding
You're off on your great adventure
I'm off-center, off by myself
Jacqueline Kennedy had a romance with Harold Ormsby Gore. His heirs just auctioned her letters to him. I was inspired to write this from his perspective after reading about them. She went on, of course, to marry Aristotle Onassis.

Cold metal presses against the thin mattress.
There is no pea but he can still feel the springs
It is hard, sharp, jarring, and deeply cutting
He is no princesses and this is no fairytale.

The beast is indifferent, made of concrete.
Barbwire fences mark the difference from
Freedom’s street and the state penitentiary
and he cannot leave this abusive relationship.

They let him go and life was like a candy-coated cabin.
He got himself a job, but kept a lot of bad habits
hopping fences, then breaking into cars,
dating a troubled teenager, and an angry older women.

Head down body laid to rest he did his best
to fall into the deepest sleep in the porcelain tub,
drunkenly stupid, but somebody pulled him out.
He tried to burn himself the same **** night.

An angry apple red thread with a poisonous pointed head
awaits his next big break in mistake
but the price he paid, the things that changed
all came because he smoked some little thing.

It doesn’t take much, in fact any little thing
could take a halfway decent human being
and turn him into to a ward of the State
can take a loving human being and make him hate.

Not all stories end happily ever after.
Not all prisons are left even after
the prisoner is freed, his body may be released.
but the man still flinches,
hardened and tenderized by what he has seen
and what he had to do to make it through
that dark fairytale hell.

Lady Misfortune
You come with the roast
Your big ego
I bring my pain
All my imperfections
Laid out on the table
There is no where else to hide
Forced into submission
Open your eyes
She says the roaches have finally come out
I say what do you mean
She points to the guys out on the street
Guy on the corner
Looking like trash
That's too bad I think in my head
She says that he is a roach
I said no, he is a human like you and me
Just because he isn't your definition of civilized,
doesn't mean a thing
You may have approached him at a time
And yes I don't know him
But I'm not blind
A broken soul knows those in the same boat
The window in their eyes
The spark that doesn't shine
She calls him a roach
I say don't
You may not know what it's like to live out of bags and not know when your next meal will be
Living off the streets
Bullets and sirens all over petty beef
Arrested by the police
For stealing the necessities of the day
Manipulated by the world to think all you need to be happy is money, drugs and hoes
You say you don't give because he'll just use it to smoke
But how can you look down upon them all when you really don't know
I was once like a roach
So please don't call them by that name
It's a shame
So easy to point fingers and pin blame
It's hard being a roach
You're just trying to crawl and they want you crushed
So you come out when it's dark
Hiding from all the scars and marks
Accepting rejection on a daily
Begging for money and clothes
Cused out for trying
Denying that you were ever that low
How do you know
You come with your roast
Your big ego
I bring my pain
All my imperfections
Laid out on the table
I remember when I was a roach
You approach me and have a conversation
He gets cut off though

my corpulent heart is shrinking
the skullduggery has really beat me up this time
im still impavid but hurting
limerence
my power house, so weak i might not last this week
ubiquitous hate takes a smoke just to suffocate me
vapid head from education with no imagination
someone save me from this cataclysmic place
She was not sweet, neither was she sour...
She was pretty awesome, somewhere in between...
If she were to be compared to anything
I believe she was water...
incomparable to anything
but just pretty cool to drink...
I think..

Slowly I am
wiping the mirrors
judging the subtle reality behind it
witnessing the frivolous frailties
And
Maybe
I finally can
let go of those years
Drowning in your sins
as mine
*Robbing me of my own home

Slip inside my mind
But be careful of what you find
Of all the madness inside of me
I'll kiss a camera into your eyes
You won't know the truth from lies
I'll whisper voices inside your head
From the graves of ghosts long since dead
Then I'll turn the dial again
Attach a virus, and hit send
Now I'm crawling inside your skin
Infecting you with all my sins
From years, and years of centuries past
You will know my name at last
Your soul is mine to keep
and, you'll worship me while you sleep
I've kissed a camera into your eyes
I'm the snake that whispers lies
I'll make you bleed until you die
Ah, watch the sky as you spin
Jam the needle once again
Colors pointing to a door
Echo voices you've heard before
Lower, lower they let you down...
Until you smell the roses above the ground.
