My God, you’re dancing – hands like startled doves
And gently curving ankles keep my time
Just so. Syncopated hearts intermesh
With lips, rhythmic eyes and then the coda…

Twin systems colliding. It’s terminal.
Let’s mix. Leave me stumbling like a drunkard
And praising seven velvet witnesses
With words made of breath and eyes cast from starlight.

Gasp once. Trap air before it can betray
How close you are to melting like butter
And I to puddling at your collarbone.
It’s faster now, mixed like milk in coffee

Or intermingled breath flowing slowly
Down the valley forged between our bodies.
I know form poetry is passe these days -- it's strange to think free verse has actually been ascendant for nearly 100 years! It seems form poetry has been thoroughly licked, although free verse never quite seems to get over needing to prove itself.

However, sonnets are lovely especially when written in 'strict' form (three quatrains and a couplet, ten iambic syllables each - no cheating!) - the restriction is like a painter's frame, it is easy enough to paint freeform but the frame provides a lovely bracket, and what's not shown is as important as what is.

Step out of your life,
take my hand, walk with me.
Deep to the heart of the forest,
and we'll visit the bonding tree.

Step out of your life,
hold my hand, lets walk a while.
To the magic woodland glade,
just a few steps, just another mile.

Step out of your life,
grip my hand, tie the cord.
We will jump the midnight fire,
my Lady Leaf, your Green Lord.

Step out of your life,
kiss my hand, lose your dress.
Sky-clad lovers on a mossy bed,
natural union consummated, blessed.

Step out of your life,
holding hands, we'll walk together.
I will step out of mine,
hold your heart, promise you forever.

Step out of your life,
take my hand, walk with me.
Handfasted lovers, blessed by nature,
and witnessed by the bonding tree.

Looking away from your eyes,

I realize the size of the rising situation.

In your eyes lie no lies

that give rise to despise or desperation.

I dare to compare anything unfair

with that glaring stare you wear.

Bright and full of wrong-less right,

their bright white glassiness contrasts the night.

Sincere fears rearing near tears

by the mere peering on clearly seen "dears" of yesteryear.

Eyes despising the realization of past situations.

Be bold and unfold your reservation.

Only good truths shall be told.

No lies spoken.

Old molds broken.

Sympathy and empathy and things causing the heart to flee.

Breathe.

One...two...three, lift your lids and see.

Hates once realized,

words you once despised,

glances once causing your very demise,

shall not be recognized in my own eyes.

If we again allow our eyes to close,

and the world around us slows,

and our instincts move us nose to nose,

we shall realize a sizable rising situation just arose.

The first time I truly fell head over heels for a girl, It was the first time I ever felt scared to go in for the first kiss. I knew it had to be immense and mind blowing, like 4 of July fireworks. I knew all the relationships reasons why she was scared she had already fallen too fast and felt completely powerless to stop it. i knew all the pain burned into her and the hurt from her past and why her hesitation was justified. The night I anticipated I might first kiss her, I wrote this poem in like 10 mins and brought it with me on the date. Towards the end of the night, we made our way to the roof, I read her the poem, we kissed, then she panicked and said she was too young to fall in love this hard, this soon. I never saw her again
Cleft open by the very notion of your presence.
My heart is yours to do with what you must,
I trust you will satisfy your own heart...
Fame, shame or bust.
A most dangerous game, only myself to blame.
The beating of your bold heart's touch unfolds the cold rolled steel of my old soul.
Alas, grant me access and I will build a kingdom to house it.
The grasp of “At last” lapses and alas,
I’m cleft open by the very notion of your indifference.

Given the chance, I would advance all the love I have left in life.
My Love was once lost in rifely strife seeking a wife and the trappings of suburbanite life.
Fear not appeared knots fraught by my heart,
its was taught not caught so the pieces wouldn't fall apart.

Hesitate not! Be.
Plan not in fear. Be free.
Pity not those whose planned purpose perpetually perishes the thought of dreams.
I dream for you, of you, dream you may dream too.
I long for each moment that sees you gain strength.
It brings me strength.
When your eyes rise and size up my heart, may it bring you strength.
Don't protect your heart only to burn in
your own held back truths.
Fear not to question, correct, influence or encourage.
Hesitate not to say what needs to be.

My heart may be yours, but your heart is still your own....
yet to be given freely for reasons only to you are known.
Give me your heart and it shall inspire all my dreams.
Your eyes flutter away.
You do not stay.
My swayed heart left alone.

Cleft open by the consequences of your senseless indifference.
Steel replaces feel, soul rolls up again.
My dreams stay seamed together until fairer weather come.
My dreams are to build a kingdom, thy will be done.
