Your eyes sang the song of loss
And I recognized the chorus
I was reading a book in a place no normal person would be. When I was accomponied by a lovely gal who had the same plans as me. We never spoke a word to eachother but I've never felt so understood.

You left me
Stranded
Looking like
A fool
Other lights
Alone are blue
You said one thing
And did another
Didn't you
Know this
I
Refuse to be blue
Don't try to
Deny it
You know
It's true
The shame
Is on you
I'm your
Woman
Stand up for me
No apologies for
Days and weeks
A promise is big
Enough
You left me stranded
& Blue..

Laying in bed tonight
You know what I want?
To somehow go in the past
And protect the child I was

caroline
pony-tailed playmate
head tucked in her shirt
gazing steadily down
at her toes in the dirt

chaos tiptoes around her
naive oblivion
journeys in far away lands
just west of the meridian

watercolor fairy tales
bleeding outside the lines
unaware of the danger
unaware of the signs

let me sit with you, darling
in the dampened flower beds
and paint a new world
for us in our heads
A friend of mine told me
I write when I’m sad
She said it is as if I am in pain
And I said when I write it rains
When I put the pen on paper the clouds get dark
And when I stop
The birds of the sky sings
Coming out to play as the sun is out

You want to help,
Until you have to do something.
You understand,
Until I need your understanding.
You’ll listen,
Until you hear something you don’t like.
You have patience,
Until you lose your temper.
You care,
Until it becomes hard work.
You love me,
Until you don’t love me anymore.
You’re here form me,
Until you eventually leave.

The Old Coat

Sadness,
A gift somebody once gave me,
Like a heavy winter coat,
Far too big for a child,
But I grew into it.

It still hangs in my attic,
Sometimes I forget,
Sometimes I remember,
But whenever I try it on,
It still fits.

Northern lights
Scrape the edge
In planetary surrender
Hold on if you dare

It's a magnificent globe
It spins and dances
Streaked in glimpses
Of burning light

Atmosphere's emeralds
Bloom in radiance
It's a moving painting
Frozen images remain

Pure radiance can only
Be dreamt up
In day dreams
And warmth and
Colors that surround
