psyche
I looked at her
As she glances at me
Those crystal beans
On her eyes were falling.

I saw the sadness
She’s been hiding inside
The pain she’s been carrying
On that cold dark night.

She then smiled at me
Telling me she was fine
I smiled back at her
I wish I could help.

She started the conversation
Though no words came out
I, then understood
It really hurts.

No one could ever understand
No one…
No one could ever care
No one..

I felt the pain
I wiped her tears
On that cold dark night
I only have my replica.

your boot was turned the wrong way
on the post out by the highway
- sharp toe pointing to the south
away from where you've been

you're no stranger to the rangers
living dangerously on the edge
- sidewinders in the sagebrush
whispering to the wind

the anasazi built this home
stacking stone one by one
- far above the canyon
of petroglyphs and wrens

i knew i'd find you by the fire
talking to the ghosts of smoke and drum
- in the ruins above the dunes
reminiscing with your friends

- reminiscing, reminiscing
on the blue mesa.

pimples and mint life savers
flirting over text and pink lipgloss
crying in class and acting like you hate the world
traveling in groups, friendships you think will last a lifetime and homework you never do
you never thought you'd have to grow up, did you?
everything is temporary
lockers and passing notes
doing everything you can so the cute boy your mother likes will daydream about you, too
everyone in your first hour literature class won't remember your name in 15 years when we all have kids and we marry someone because you simply have no reason not to
colorful backpacks and varsity sports
thinking high school would be the best four years of your life
why would someone lie to you?
gossip and holding hands
you never realized the guy across the hall would break your heart and rip your new blouse, did you?
My heart is beating
But I am not alive.
Yet with blood flowing through my veins
I cannot claim the sweet victory of death.
Rather, the meaningless days consume me
Passing by so easily as I whither away.
They laugh and grin as time wastes them.
But I find it leaves a bitter taste on my lips,
That causes me to sometimes wonder
If I am doomed to die with my last breath,
Leaving behind legends of nothingness,
And no one to remember my name.
Cupid's arrow is such a dangerous thing,
Hitting people without a clue,
Fixing their hearts together to never fall apart, stuck together like glue.

Until one day,
Cupid's arrow disappears and the glue fades away,
The people become depressed and lose all interest in life,
Their hearts feel like they've been ripped apart with a switchblade knife.

And once again, that stupid arrow comes flying past,
Creating love too fast, and destroying people's hearts,
Cupid's arrow is such a dangerous thing.

On the surface, all typical answers,

Stay in shape, and keep the weight off,

I enjoy, and love the competitive spirit,

I want to beat you at the finish line,
and then shake your hand,

I want to be your friend and wish you good luck

I want to stand next to you on the podium

But I run deep,

I run because I have to replenish the blood loss,
From the heart I keep cutting open,

I run because I hurt you,

I run because I broke so many promises,

I run from a past which haunts me,

I run like the wind needing to escape,

I run for my future,

I run for my life
