Your eyes told stories that I failed to read

I guess I write in third person
so I can pretend that my feelings
aren't mine

The ******* the subway
dropped the handkerchief
that was sitting on her lap.
------------
I picked it up
only to find out it has
splattered inks of black.
------------
She came to me,
mascara streaked down
from her sun-kissed face.
------------
Her pretty brown eyes
were like sunset and I swear,
I couldn't look away.

I will only love you
when your eyes
reach into my soul
like arms.

*Embrace me from the inside out.

Don't let it swallow me. Whole.
I am only at my best when
I have been halved
and quartered.

Wandering soul
I see your face
Reflected in every mirror
I pass
And my heart breaks
Like
Shards of glass
I can still taste your smile
The feel of you
Under my hands
And I know I can't wait
To come back

Thank you for breaking me
And making me
A better me

Thank you for hurting me
And making me
A stronger me

Thank you for shooting me
And making me
Bulletproof

Thank you for burning me
And making me
Fireproof
This is an older poem. Things have changed since then. But this poem is highly relative to a lot of people and I liked it well enough so I posted it.

Sometimes he let his eyes rest on hers, it needn't have been painful,
but it strangely was.
He broke a lifetime of avoiding eye contact to show her.
She was worth overcoming obstacles for.
