I can only imagine your body on mine.
Our heat in that stuffy apartment.
You're perfect.
I'm an amateur.
You make it so easy..

My daydreams are getting out of control... Forgive me.

Night and fog
setting in-unsettling
now that the rain has stopped

the live oak in the dark
creaks under the weight
of dying limbs

mean high tide
at three a.m.
means no ghosts will walk
ashore

U-227 lies on the bottom
not too far out from here
where she went down
in the nacht und nebel
while the live oak creaked
and the ocean roared.

I see God.
On a distant hillside.
Perched in a tree.
Feeding her young.

She is no great beast.
But she sees everything.

She is by far
the cutest little lady,
her doe-eyes sparkle,
cut diamonds glittering
against her porcelain skin.
And her lips.
O her precious lips,
what medicine for my soul.
I would drink from them
forever
swallow her whole
& choke on her freckles
to feel her warmth.

For those of care.
Of care.

Have you ever heard
An ambulance crew's

Member talk a brittle little
Old lady into a

Young, confident
One?

You should see
Those eyes awaken

With living fire; so unlike
Those

That made us
Call.

She mailed them to me
in an inconspicuous brown envelope
with specific instructions,
told me
to soak them
in my mouth.

The red lace
smelled a bit musty,
but tasted
surprisingly sweet.

O what closeness
I felt from her,
from a million miles away.
I've returned
From depths
Unexplored

Walked with the shadows
But yearned still for more

They warned
And they warned
Still did I crave

Now had my fill
Returned home from the grave

Back up above
Up from below
Now under sky
No longer crave what waits down below
the crisp morning air
embraces my skin
greeting each pore
with a welcome
to wake up
Written before my morning bike ride to work.
