Shards of the Soul
Imaan Asif Nov 11
I am losing myself
Withering away
Each day
Everyday.

I am stuck
I can’t move
I hurt others
While I hurt me too.

I stand, unmoving---
In this wretched place
In the midst of darkness
In this open space.

I don’t know how to let it out
Everything within me
All the grief, all the woe
Every heartache, it doesn’t go
Away from me.

Nobody can save me now
It’s all too late
I keep on writing about it
A little wish
Help me escape.

I’ve have reached the end of the page
Now
I don’t know what’s next
Misery has wrapped its arms around me
Misery has even scared death.

Your Eyes
Imaan Asif Nov 6
Your eyes
They tell a story
Story of the battles you’ve won
Despite being alone
All the kingdoms you run
With solely you on the throne
Your eyes
Dipped in love
Despite the darkness they have seen
In your eyes
Lies a land, I always get lost in
Your eyes
So majestic as the blue sky above
Your eyes
Like crystal waters
Oh my-----
I think I’ve fallen in love

November
Imaan Asif Nov 5
It’s November
And everything I feel within
Is what I see around,
The coalescing fog,
The turbidity of clouds,
Coldness enveloping itself again,
Before the trees; wilting leaves bow,
As I stand there, I feel understood,
It’s November,
Hence I am not alone
in the woods

and I am afraid,
that one day when I'll be lost,
I may never find myself again.

if you have to write about it all,
would you dare to hold the pen?

the only forever
Imaan Asif Sep 15
Isn't grace found in the smallest of things,
In hands that reach, and hearts that sing?
They capture the beauty of divine,
In acts of care, in silence that rings.

The warmth of tea, the crisp of cucumber,
And the words that softly glow.
Friendship, a prayer answered,
A love that continues to grow

And may this love never end,
Let it shine in the dark,
Don't make it stiff, let it bend,
Let it stay in your heart

Forever, may this friendship flow,
In every hardship, your sole strength,
Let it make yourself whole,
So that it's there when everything ends
wrote this poem in collaboration with one of my friends who's simply amazing. so shout out to him🙌

all about life
Imaan Asif Sep 15
life is not when you lost that job or when you cried that night. life is not the pimple on your face or when you failed that test. life is not the toast you burned or when you took that one wrong turn. life is not when your phone got broken or when you missed that train. life is not the bad day you had or when you slept in. life is not when you got that hate comment or when someone misjudged you. life is not when everything went wrong or when you felt like doing nothing. life is not the bad things that happened to you. it is not. life is when you hugged your friends when they were feeling lost. life is cooking your favorite food or calling your mom after a long day. life is wiping your tears away and smiling. life is when you danced in the rain or when you stayed up the whole night just to finish that book. life is when you held your partner's hand even when you were shy. life is when you plucked that flower because you liked it or when you got that compliment from your favorite person. life is when you pursued the career YOU wanted to. life is about clicking pictures and making memories. life is about seeing your loved ones everyday. life is all about the 'good' in your life. and life is certainly too short to focus on the 'not good' part.
so get up and live your life while you can.

we're still here
Imaan Asif Sep 5
everytime the sun ray hits the earth,
hope enlightens,
so don't give up,
until the sun does,
and when the earth has no reason to be alive,
until then,
you are here
and
you got to survive
YOU GOT THIS, HAVE FAITH IN YOURSELF🤍

The Death Of Shame
Imaan Asif Sep 3
We see the horizon,
They get flames burning down,
We listen to the birds chirping,
Why do they hear bomb sounds?
Why do we set alarms?
And they don’t sleep at night,
Why do our children go to school?
And theirs have to fight,
Why do we cry tears?
And they cry blood,
What vision do we have?
All the eyes are shut,
Why do we have shelter?
While they are trying to hide,
Why do we get to live?
When they are dying with smiles,
Why do we get heard?
When they are screaming in pain,
What made us so heartless?
The world has lost its shame
Palestinians face deep suffering from living under occupation and a blockade. They struggle with losing their homes, limited movement, and shortages of basic supplies, all while holding on to hope for a better future. Their pain is often ignored as the world remains silent, not doing anything to help. This lack of attention makes their difficult situation even worse and leaves their dreams for peace and justice uncertain.
"Our children have the right to live in peace and security." — A Palestinian Father.

voice in the void
Imaan Asif Sep 1
and in the moment of silence,
i search for my forsaken voice,
buried somewhere,
far and adrift,
under the summit of sufferings,
the rivers of rage,
under trampled dreams,
under the mottled page,
the voice so aloof,
i have forgotten it so well,
the past of calamity,
only if i had a voice; i could tell

lost pieces
Imaan Asif Aug 31
The tears came as I held the pen,
I don't want to do this,
I yelled in my head; then,
The mountains tumbled,
The rivers dried,
The flowers crumpled,
And I cried,
It hurts - much,
I don't want to do this,
But I have to,
Its been decades since I've been lost,
Maybe I want to,
Find myself again,
Pick up my pieces as it rains,
Because the tears came as I held the pen
Go find yourself.

the art of fading
Imaan Asif Aug 29
I'm wearing away,
slowly and gradually,
not like dust,
or the sand one wave can wash away,
but like how glaciers melt leisurely,
and that dried flower in your book,
I can be here only if time could betray
