As a child mother fed me what she thought was best for me,
I had no choice though I sometimes rebelled.
As a youth I tasted platefuls, with varieties ,
My food, my choice.
In middle age I was mostly on diet,
Nibbled my food and exercised,
After all I wanted to stay youthful.
Now in old age my dear daughter-in-law  is strict with my diet
I have no choice,
But if you see a light in our fridge it is me looking for that sweet something.

Sometimes I’m strong and sometimes the nights are too long. Sometimes I feel love and sometimes the pain is all I have. As the pain grows so is the fear.
Fear will come upon you like a thief in the night.
Stealing the strength you need to carry all the weight.
The heavier it becomes the slower your gait.
Struggle to hold on to what I thought I knew,
My reality once clear suddenly no longer seemed true.
But must remind myself that time is not a respecter of no man , for it marches on
Even when we need a minute or two to catch our breath. When we don’t feel like it anymore, we must push on and begin again. Every day when life is trying,
I laid my soul bare to the master’s feet,
In a blink of an eye I no longer felt sad. Given another chance to begin again. Turn my tears into joy.
My tears now gone and replaced with a smile. Standing tall And so full of love, a clear path for others to seek. Finally my head held up high. No longer feeling heavy, but light enough to fly.
Black bird’s in the sky with my wings spread out, if you need a hug.
Soft clouds and sunshine awakens the gratitude within. Forget the pain and the disappointment and begin again.
Brace yourself , embrace the wonder. Brothers and sisters, suffering from illness and darkness, facing an unknown future, please know that you stand amongst. And be thankful you still exist.

This one for YOU!

a new semester
filled with uncertainty
for teachers . . .
more anticipation of the unknown
fear for our colleagues,
our students-
and yet,
I can't imagine a career
I'd rather risk my life for
than for the smiles of students
our crazy, harmonious connections
I can't fathom being
any other than what I am
one who loves and supports
our future
when I rest my mind on this affection,
all the rest dies away
for all at once
I smile, again, meeting
a new family, collaboration
filled with possibility
together, we are reborn
again
and fear falls away
we are students and teacher
engaged in the beauty
of a journey
an exchange, even CoVid
can't deny
I am anxious to return to class tomorrow, but am grateful for the opportunity to do what I  truly love.

Love is like a squid
really odd and weird
all this time it hid
then suddenly appeared

Making you fall deep
down to the oceans floor
taking a giant leap
where you've not been before

and suddenly it's gone
sometimes in a blink
but poems like this live on and on
written with it's ink

Say Bazonka every day
That's what my grandma used to say
It keeps at bay the Asian Flu'
And both your elbows free from glue.
So say Bazonka every day
(That's what my grandma used to say)

Don't say it if your socks are dry!
Or when the sun is in your eye!
Never say it in the dark
(The word you see emits a spark)
Only say it in the day
(That's what my grandma used to say)

Young Tiny Tim took her advice
He said it once, he said it twice
he said it till the day he died
And even after that he tried
To say Bazonka! every day
Just like my grandma used to say.

Now folks around declare it's true
That every night at half past two
If you'll stand upon your head
And shout Bazonka! from your bed
You'll hear the word as clear as day
Just like my grandma used to say!
