You're an onion.

You're made up of layers
more than a hundred of them
but when you peel a few
they thought they already know you
impressed, appalled to see you
baring your soul, opening yourself
and you find it funny
and you find it kinda sad
because to you it's nothing
like a small scratch on a surface
nothing but just a few layers off
and you have a hundred more to go.
Feels.

Dark swirling, shifting, speaking..
This was the place a boy found his solace,
Yet it's also the place he may find his doom.

The voices cry out all the painful truths
Which he struggles not to accept.
The only time he had ever managed to keep these voices at bay
Were the moments he finally slept.

Those days he tells himself are long past.
The love he holds for his precious three he swears he'll make last.
He helped seal up that archway what seems so long ago,
But still it beckons not that key to throw.
It promises him solace.
It promises him power.
It promises him peace
And never more to cower.

Only one thing it asks.
Just fade back, Little One.
You are lesser,
Weaker,
More naive,
And unable to know
What great things in this world you could sew.
If only you would stop fighting the destruction
Which is already filling your soul.

It's just those three he keeps holding on for,
But even so he knows that will soon fade out to not
Just as all the promises of his past he has forgot.
Even though these three hold all he's ever sought.

They wrote

girl

in the centre of the page.

Word connotations tranfusing into veins of ink.

Pretty synonyms { eyelashes, flowers, cherries, collarbones} lilting with virtue.
A marriage between dainty and fragility.
A wink of buttery pastries & flushed cheeks.

Why the hell did it take so long to put
strong
brilliant { sun & stars }

?
This was a true realisation for me. I was trying to draw a map of synonyms for the word 'girl'. Perhaps I was too sleepy, frustratingly,I thought of the most fragile things associated with the word.
We can be all things sweet, but we can also be strong.
Regardless of gender.
Yes, I mean, you.

People like that I speak plain.
They don’t like when poets are vain.
Hope they love this little refrain.
Think I’ll do it, again and again.

Flowery language isn’t always for me,
I keep my verses wandering free.
Simple words do hold the key,
So a sapling becomes a tree.

My back parallel to the ground
as my nerves and vessels in my head swell.
Puffed eyelids shut gently,
my fingers shiver.
Heavy heart beats with a stagnant beat,
tears flushing down like a waterfall..
forming puddles on my collar bone
before drowning me into a pool
of melancholy and despair.

**Wondering what's in store for me tomorrow,
only if it comes..
