Bad Weather
David Rombouts Sep 2014
Rain, rain go away
That's what all the others say
Mourning, loathing everyday
This rain lingers anyway

Why should rain disappear
After all it seems to mirror
Reflecting past, making clearer
Please rain do not fear

Do not repel from our souls
For you seem to fill the holes
Surely taking all your tolls
Bringing us closer to our goals

Although dark, light shines through
Covering nearly every shoe
Sometimes blind of what to do
Rain always finds ways to brew

So as I said just before
Do not exit out the door
Stay and feed us all some more
Stay until we swim to shore

Fear Lingers
David Rombouts Sep 2014
We live life each and every day
Wond'ring when we'll come to say
I am not afraid.

Spiders, clowns, nightmares
All seem so cruel, unfair,
Not to me.

I fear not death
Nor the smell of my breath,
I fear people.

Not thoughts or opinions
Or loss of dominion,
But unconsciousness.

I fear misinterpretation
And the discrimination
Of my voice.

Maybe odd maybe strange
And some day I may change,
But not today.

Call me different-- weird
Your words are only smeared,
For I am me.

I am the me that screams
Past all of my dreams,
At my reflection.

Nobody else hears it
'Cause I am scared to admit,
They won't realize.

I continue to block away
More and more, day after day,
And it doesn't help.

Growing vulnerable, weaker
Tying, retying my sneaker,
Living with fear another day.
I struggle with the mere trust that I must lay in someone else's mind in order for them to understand me. I just don't assume possible for some reason. I need help.

Behind the Friendship
David Rombouts Sep 2014
A cool Autumn day thinking, wondering
When will we come to enjoy one another
Lost, clueless in endless slumbering
There are enough people to like rather just mother

To think we could manage without someone else
Would be ignorant of the world around us
And to isolate would get you stuck to a shelf
Where to retrack, you'll need more than a compass

Escaping distrust would be no easy task
Although it would be worth the constant struggle
Revealing the true face behind that mask
Could end up as an ultimate snuggle

While looking back, we see the issues
Which could be mended with time and care
'Though sometimes we'll need more than tissues
To recover from the heat in the air

In the end, coming to discover
Few using more of each moment
We grab sight of both the other
And realize, never being so broken
Throughout life you make your way through many friendships, and to truly become part of them, one would have to see behind the scenes and accept the flaws.
